The Albanese Government is Now Paying a Baby Bonus for Late-Term Abortions

22 July 2025

3.1 MINS

New parental payments in Australia include a baby bonus for women who abort after 20 weeks, raising serious concerns about how our society values motherhood, family, and the unborn.

The Albanese government is now paying mothers for killing their healthy babies before they are born. Incredibly, this means that an Australian mother who aborts her baby — after 20 weeks in her pregnancy and up until birth — can choose between a Stillbirth Parenting Payment of $4,255 or a Paid Parental Leave Payment of $20,147!

Not even Marquis de Sade’s The 120 Days of Sodom, or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World could have envisaged such a grotesque inversion of meaning. But such is the time in which we now live.

Late-term abortion is an horrific and barbaric practice. Not only that, but it is a pre-mediated act of murder to take the life of another human being. As pro-life lawyer Dr Joanna Howe explains:

Killing a baby after 20 weeks and up until birth entails injecting the baby’s heart with potassium chloride or digoxin and is followed by the early induction of labour of that now stillborn baby.

This is a deliberate and wilful act to kill a healthy baby very late in pregnancy and deliver them stillborn.

In South Australia, 80% of late-term abortions kill healthy babies.

The Corruption of the Baby Bonus

Australia has a very generous policy for families to have a child. But the Albanese government is now extending that financial provision for their murder as well. Indeed, it not only supports but also encourages the termination of pregnancies after twenty weeks. As Dr Howe argues:

The Howard Government’s Baby Bonus was criticised because it incentivised teen pregnancies. This is far, far worse. Instead of receiving a $5,000 cash payment for birthing a baby at full term, the Albanese Government is now incentivising late-term abortion in half the time.

One midwife relays the traumatic situation of assisting a woman to terminate her child, only to be then told that she is looking forward to using the Stillborn Parenting Payment to fund her upcoming trip to Bali.

In the dystopian classic 1984, George Orwell coined the term ‘newspeak’, a fictional language for the totalitarian state of Oceania. By re-defining the meaning of words, the government could exert complete control over its citizens. Hence, the Ministry for Truth was the government agency responsible for propaganda, historical revisionism, and controlling information. Alternatively, the Ministry of Love was responsible for perpetrating violence through fear, torture and brainwashing.

As we can all see now, Orwell was not only a brilliant novelist, but also very prescient in what he perceived would soon occur. But not even he could have envisioned a situation where a “baby bonus” would be paid to a mother for killing her baby or a Paid Parental Leave payment be given after one decided to not actually be a mother. And the fact that the political party responsible for this perversion is called the ‘Labor’ Party just beggars belief.

A Prayer for Life in Australia

Every follower of Jesus should be horrified that taxpayer monies are being used in this way. As with the horrific events recorded in Judges 19, it should make us all stop and re-consider our ways.

As a point of action, please sign the following petition which can be found here. Circulate it to friends, contact your local member, but most of all, pray! If you are unsure what to ask, then the prayer below might be of help:

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for the awesome God that You are. You are perfect in love, holiness and wisdom. Please forgive our nation for the horrendous practice of abortion which is currently occurring in our land.

We grieve, Lord, at the loss of human life, and we ask for Your mercy. Change our governing authorities, that they would repent of the murderous evil which they have enshrined into law and are even supporting financially.

If they continue being hardhearted toward Your righteous law, then remove them from office and raise up new leaders — people who would fear and tremble before Your Word and seek the glory of Your holy name.

We ask all of these things in and through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, Amen.

Appendix: SA Pregnancy Advisory Centre Form

The below form from the Pregnancy Advisory Centre outlined how to claim the maternity payment for “termination of pregnancy at or over 20 weeks gestation”. In 2013, Catholic pro-life advocate Bernard Gaynor published this on his website which was given to him “by a family hurt by abortion”. For more information, see the article, “Is the Australian Government Really Paying Women $4,200 to Abort Their Babies? Here’s the Evidence“.

May God forgive such a terible act of betrayal of the unborn.
May the Prime MInister and those in his Govt come to realise these innocent lives should be saved at all costs- not killed by an injection in the womb.
May the Late term abortion law be revoked and the baby bonus reward for killing the unborn, be over turned.
May we use our democratic right to object to this law and payment and return to our Constitution that is built on the ethics of respect and saving lives.
What a shame and disgrace this to our nation.

    How can this be?

If a child is born at 20 weeks it is called “premature” and every effort is made to save the child.
Alternately, after 20 weeks it’s life can be can be terminated (murdered) within the womb, a place that should be the safest place for a baby, then as it needs to be removed from the mother’s body it is delivered as a “stillborn”. Stillborn to me is when a normal healthy pregnancy that is desired by the parents sadly goes wrong. The term stillborn should never be confused with a planned act of murder.

A government that has so little value for life and is encouraging it to be snuffed out has to go.

Mark is right when he talks of “newspeak” to confuse and soften the meaning of words.

Can you please show the link to sign the petition mentioned in the article. Many thanks.

It’s even more perverse than that Richard. An approved method of late-term abortion is to induce the baby and simply leave it to die. So a baby can be born at 20 weeks and everything be done to save it, or it can be born at 20 weeks and left to die. The only difference being the mother’s wishes.

This surely would be appropriate for our governments today, “How long O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
    2 Kings 24:3-4
3 Surely at the commandment of the Lord this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the Lord would not pardon.

This government behaviour is evil masquerading as good. We see Isaiah calling this behaviour out in Israel. Israel was on the slippery slope of their exile from the land and dispersal through the earth.

Do you really think Australia will escape God’s judgment on such evil? Especially since some Christian groups endorse such behaviour? Especially when Christian denominations endorse evil abominations such as LGBTIQ, same sex marriage?

Show me in the Bible when He excuses what He labels abominations.

Yah ensured Israel received its punishment- hundreds of years of captivity and dispersal. Australia is already under Christ’s punishment. Evil abounds so much it is beyond bearable. Yah will judge Australia before restoration.

    TIME FOR DEEP REPENTANCE.

Mark & Co at The Daily Declaration

I read your article with concern, but after researching the facts, I must respectfully challenge the core of your claim.

Australian law and Services Australia guidelines make clear that payments like the Stillborn Baby Payment or Paid Parental Leave after stillbirth do not apply to elective late-term abortions. These payments are issued only following a medically certified stillbirth—not a deliberate termination after 20 weeks. Certification requires formal documentation by doctors, and government verification processes ensure that abortion cases are not misclassified as stillbirths for welfare claims.

Your anecdote of a midwife assisting a termination patient who then planned to use a “stillborn parenting payment” for a Bali trip is highly questionable without verifiable evidence. It risks misleading readers by blurring the clear distinction between abortion and stillbirth in Australian law.

While I respect your concern for life and family values, accuracy matters, especially when discussing sensitive policies designed to support grieving parents after the tragic loss of a child.

Could you clarify whether you have documentary evidence of such a case, or are you relying on unverified anecdote? If substantiated, this would be a serious matter warranting legal investigation—not just media commentary.

In the meantime, I urge caution before circulating claims that could unjustly undermine compassionate government support for bereaved families.

I have been researching the claims made in this story too. It would seem that the orange form shown in the article is obsolete. I found a News Limited article about it in 2013 that seems to say that the orange form shown by Bernard Gaynor was withdrawn in June 2013. The Advertiser article that Dr Howe quotes is also from 2013. Is there other evidence that this is still a loophole?
I could not find any references to a termination of pregnancy being eligible for stillbirth payments in the current Services Australia webpage.

I hope I can be corrected.

I have been contacted by Mark and Kurt and they have supplied credible references to suggest that these taxpayer incentives are being used to fund non-medical elective late term abortions. Because this does not break any current Australian law there is no “whistleblower” protection.
We must ask the Politicians, the Media and the mainstream Churches why they are not more vocal in publicising this murder of healthy unborn babies.

From my reading this payment has been available since 2010. The form in the article has been withdrawn in SA years ago. I think the reporting on the issue has been misleading. We need the government to close the loop hole that allows women who have aborted a baby after 20 weeks to claim the bonus that was intended for women who had a still birth for reasons other than abortion

It is disappointing when an alleged Christian site lies to promote its agenda. This is what Grok3 AI says about your claims:

No, Australia does not provide cash payments specifically for late-term abortions. Claims suggesting that the Australian government offers payments like the Stillborn Baby Payment ($4,326.57) or Paid Parental Leave for elective late-term abortions are inaccurate. Australian law and Services Australia guidelines clearly state that payments such as the Stillborn Baby Payment or Paid Parental Leave are only available for medically certified stillbirths, not elective abortions. These payments require formal documentation by doctors, and verification processes ensure that abortion cases are not misclassified as stillbirths for welfare claims. Recent claims, particularly from sources like The Daily Declaration and LifeNews.com, have suggested that the Albanese government incentivizes late-term abortions with payments. These claims often misrepresent the Stillborn Baby Payment as a “bonus” for abortions after 20 weeks, which is not supported by official government policies or Services Australia guidelines. For example, a post on X from July 23, 2025, claimed that the government pays $4,200 for late-term abortions, but this lacks credible evidence and conflates stillbirth payments with abortion procedures.

Abortion laws in Australia vary by state and territory, with late-term abortions (typically after 20–24 weeks) generally requiring approval from two doctors and often only permitted for medical reasons, such as risks to the mother’s health or fetal abnormalities. These procedures are distinct from stillbirths, which are unintended pregnancy losses. Misinformation, such as the anecdote of a woman using a stillbirth payment for a trip to Bali, lacks verifiable evidence and risks misleading the public by blurring legal and medical distinctions.

While some sources express concern about the ethics of late-term abortions or government policies, the specific claim of cash incentives for elective late-term abortions does not align with Australia’s legal or financial frameworks. Always verify such claims against official government sources, like Services Australia or state health departments, to avoid misinformation.

There seems to be confusion about whether a late-term abortion qualifies the mother to receive the payment. Dr Joanna Howe in her frequent prolife videos (The Dr Jo Show on YouTube) insists and shows government guideline evidence that, at least, late-term elective abortions are NOT excluded from the payment.

Perhaps the pro-aborts in power want to ensure “obstetricians” take every means to kill the child in utero, subsequently inducing a “stillborn” infant.

Anyone involved in prolife work knows that the pro-abortion cabal relentlessly pushes for easier, later, increasing, mandated, cheap and instantly available surgery or chemicals to kill the child in the womb.

The most dangerous place for an Australian baby to be, statistically, is the womb.

And in case anyone is misled, there is no medical reason whatsoever to perform an abortion. An obstetrician worthy of the name will do everything in their power and skill to save the lives of both mother and baby when there is a threat to either or both their lives.

You will almost never read in the legacy media (how many “journalists” are preparing their places in hell for all eternity by concealing the truth) about the myriad, life-long, devastating consequences of abortion on the mother, father and siblings of the child so mercilessly and cruelly ripped from life itself at every stage, from embryo to viable baby.

Here is a good article about the effects of abortion on fathers, too.
