Celebrating 15 Years of the Canberra Declaration

“I used to tell my wife when the phone rang, ‘Well, this could be Warwick. And if it is, he’s probably had another vision about something. And that means I might have some more work to do.'”

On Wednesday, 23 July 2025, Bill Muehlenberg, one of the original drafters of the Canberra Declaration, gave us this sneak-peek history lesson on how the Canberra Declaration came to be during the 15th Year Anniversary Celebration of the Canberra Declaration. And what a celebration it was!

The visionaries and drafters of the Canberra Declaration recognised then that our Judaeo-Christian values, which our nation was built upon, caused our nation to flourish.

They knew there needed to be a voice reminding Australia of that past and calling Aussies back to their Christian roots.

Some cast the vision, joining others in drafting the words. The result was that on 23 July 2010, the Canberra Declaration was released and read out on the lawns of Parliament House.

Below, watch the celebratory anniversary Zoom call with seven special guest speakers who were a part of these humble beginnings!

Canberra Declaration Reaches 95,000 Signatures

Fifteen years ago, Dr Graham McLennan read out the Canberra Declaration and hoped thousands would support and sign it.

And sign it, they have! This past week, the Canberra Declaration passed a significant milestone: 95,000 signatures (and still counting)!

Why is this important? When the Canberra Declaration writes a parliamentary submission, we always include that we are writing on behalf of tens of thousands of Aussies who share this vision for a better Australia.

Thank you to our magnificent 95,000 signatories! Every signature adds weight to our stand for Christian faith, family, freedom and life. So thank you for being an integral part of this journey.

The Daily Declaration Makes International News

Sadly, this past week, Dr. Jereth Kok was found guilty of “professional misconduct” by a Victorian tribunal, and his medical suspension was upheld.

He had no patient complaints. No malpractice in 15 years. Instead, Dr. Kok was suspended for his social media posts on Christian marriage, life, and faith. These were mostly in private settings and even included Babylon Bee jokes.

Incredibly, The Daily Declaration’s reporting has caught world attention. The Daily Wire picked up the story. So did Not the Bee, running the article pictured below (which includes a satirical Babylon Bee headline in the red box):

Dr Kok Not the Bee

Not the Bee also picked up the story about the Centrelink stillborn baby payment, available when the stillbirth is a result of a late-term abortion. (See the evidence for this here and here.) Beginning with, “Seriously, do we need to invade and liberate Australia?”, their headline ran:

Not the Bee Abortion

It’s devastating and gut-wrenching to see the sanctity of life destroyed and God’s definition of marriage and gender criminalised. It makes for a truly tearful ending to this newsletter.

Yet, our focus remains on God and alerting Australians to the consequences of eroding our Christian heritage. (If you haven’t yet subscribed to our Daily Declaration email news and you’d like to, please do so here.)

May God have mercy on our nation, and raise up an uncompromising and prayerful Church that will take the good news to every corner of our magnificent continent. There is always hope, and His name is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Martin Luther once said, “Christians who pray are like pillars carrying the roof of the world.” The success, past, present, and future, of the Canberra Declaration, is undoubtedly the result of prayer.

For all those who have prayed over the past 15 years, this milestone is yours to celebrate. Thank you for carrying this calling on your knees.

Yours for Christian faith, family, freedom and life,

Samuel Hartwich & Warwick Marsh

Being part of the Canberra Declaration family, especially through the prayer network, is one of the best things in our faith life.

CD has been my home church for many years. Now I share that with a lovely local church… I came on to pray for the drought. 6 or 7 yrs ago… Many wonderful experiences and people since then. A true family to me thru my highs and lows.

They CD I was invited to the Million Women March in Washington DC and was able to stay on for the Let Us Worship March 2 weeks later. I was riding on the slip stream of CD and Warwicks vision into glorious events. To see the altar of Ishtar smashed breaking the ruling power over that demonic entity and the resulting policy changes in America (ie no more Trans in the army…cancellation of DEI policies etc) I’m so grateful and inspired to pray for our country to follow into revival and reformation in Jesus Mighty Name Amen
