This Season of Soul-Winning, Will We Show Ourselves Strong?
Will we discern the times and position as co-workers in sync with God? Many are lost, hurt, or struggling. But in Australia the lost CAN be found, and all restored. Through His Spirit, God is already working. And a 153-year rain record’s just been broken.
God works in cycles of seven years, doesn’t He? Often, seasons of dry and seasons of wet can be of spiritual significance — remember Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream in Egypt, and the events that followed? Remember the seven-year drought in Israel broken by Elijah’s intercessory prayer?
153-year rain record broken in 2025
Shortly after our arrival in Brisbane, this July 2018 news report caught my attention — “The Big Dry: ‘See us, hear us, help us’“, especially the accompanying video on Facebook with livestock being driven into the shape of Australia. As a prophetic artist and intercessor, I’ve learnt a bit about watching events and discerning the times, together with others in the Body of Christ seeking God this way. We know the natural often precedes the spiritual, and dreams from God can precede natural events.
In the video, a farmer cries because she fears her 100-year-old orange trees will die (such a serious time – in December 2019, 67% of Queensland was declared as being in a state of drought). Interestingly, amid the parched landscape, there’s one small evergreen tree at the North of Queensland.

In June this year, seven years after 2018, another news headline caught my eye. This time, it was The Courier Mail reporting a 153-year rain record being broken! “A massive 3,000km weather system stretching across five states has smashed a 153-year rain record. This is what to expect as it arrives in Queensland”, echoing weatherzone.com.au’s article. Wow, rain that is a 3,000km weather system: the spiritual significance…! Don’t the verses in Joel 2:28-29, “I will pour my Spirit on ALL flesh,” come to mind?

Feeling this was important, I sent this screenshot to a few close friends with, “I’m sensing the harvest, the revival among the young generation, is here… seeing lots of school kids with crosses around their necks and on their social media profiles, it says Christian. They’ll need discipling, of course…”
Shortly afterwards, I see Rockhampton’s John Alley declaring in his July 2025 sermon that we’ve just entered into a season of soul-winning. And from where I stand, I can totally agree.
During this same period, our two daughters witnessed a mighty move of the Spirit at their 2025 youth camp — supernatural healings of insomnia and anxiety, restoration of joy, and deliverance of oppression, to name but a few (youth groups from all over Queensland attended the camp). Praise the Lord!
Acting on His Word, with amazing results
What is the spiritual significance of the number 153, and why are the large fish significant?
John 21 shows how all through the night, they caught nothing (same as during a drought, there is no harvest, and during the night, there’s no light/insight). But upon His word, they cast their net on the right side, and caught 153 large fish!
The number 153 is the geomatrea for “sons of God”, those who are born of and led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8). Moreover, even with such a big catch, the net did not tear — this links with Father’s house that will surely become full (more on that later).
Let’s look at the five things that happened in short succession:
- They heard His Word,
- They acted on His Word,
- For a change, they caught something,
- The results were surprising – 153 big fish!
- The net did not tear.
Even though they didn’t catch anything during the whole night, they acted, they caught, and big fish, too. But where did it all start? It started with them hearing His directive Word for that day.
The burning question for us is: Do we know what God’s Word is for us today, as His fishers-of-men in Australia, so that we can act on it and also catch big fish? If we don’t know, are we coming together, sharing, hearing? The Spirit is moving, as He always is. Results come by His Spirit, not by might nor by power, thankfully! The question is, will we be ready and positioned, so that we can hear Him, and He can move through us, work through us? Or will He need to move past us? This is a word that has been shared often by Jeff Curnow in our local gathering community.
Syncing with God’s timing and His heavenly army
About 10 years ago, at a prophetic/apostolic men’s retreat, my husband spoke on Revelation 19:6 in Delmas, South Africa. Johan explained how the bride’s collective voice can be like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns.”
Veteran African-Australian missionary John Potter refers to this kind of thing, too, in his call to a different kind of corporate prayer in the article “Towards High Praise“.
As an intercessor, I’ve experienced this a number of times. It’s where heaven joins in, because in our meeting on earth we are aligned, in sync, in brokenness with Christ as the head — perfectly positioned in God’s clockwork towards reconciling all things under Christ.
It’s actually quite simple, as Deborah sang in Judges 5, and as illustrated in the tale of Elisha —
‘Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’
Then Elisha prayed and said, ‘Oh Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’
So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw,
and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
God knows this place and time we live in
If we take time to consider, we’ll be astounded at God’s hand in our lives — what a great tapestry He is weaving, knowing the time and place we will live and work on earth. Some of us have family trees with several men and women sent as missionaries. But in fact, being part of the great spiritual family of our heavenly Father, means we’re all being sent as Jesus was sent, and as He then sent His disciples. This sending has never stopped, and the effects are being felt at the ends of the earth and in all spheres of life.
Back in the day, God led my husband to discern the spiritual significance in the epic Australian song You’re the Voice (which was big in our country of birth, too). This anthem had a ripple effect worldwide — the 2023 documentary shows how it was performed during an electric atmosphere to a great big crowd in Berlin, right before the wall came down. This song had me on fire long before I knew I would call Australia home.
It is, as John Farnham sings — up to us. We don’t need to let history happen to us. We have a chance to be co-writers with God, co-writing His-story during our time on earth.
Think global, act local, do the work
Our pastor during our 2002 gap year, Wolfi Eckleben of Every Nation London, used to say, “Think global, act local.” As David, shouldn’t we collectively be endeavouring to fulfil the purposes of God in our generation? That will mean this generation can be freed, healed, firmly planted, and stand upon our shoulders with a double portion. This way, they will receive the baton from the previous generation, be fully equipped, and able to run their own race, long after our time on earth has passed.
A biblical generation is 40 years, and it was after reigning for 40 years that David told Solomon,
“Be strong and courageous, and do it. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you before all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.”
The Father’s house built and filled in our generation
This temple that needs to be built is our heavenly Father’s house – saving souls and discipling them! God doesn’t dwell in temples made with human hands, but through His Spirit He dwells in the Body of Christ living all over the earth, PLUS the great cloud of witnesses in heaven. One God. One Spirit. And we are part of one eternally living Body.
His house will grow fuller with each generation until it is completely full. We are on the winning side — what a relief! Therefore, let’s have a Joshua and Caleb attitude! Time is of the essence — the enemy wants to distract/veil/kill at every corner and prevent people from hearing/accepting the invitation.
In every generation, the invitation is there for every living person. Even if those first invited were too busy, Father God will send out His messengers to invite those on the streets and alleys — the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame (as in the parable of the dinner, Luke 14). We live in a time where Jesus Himself appears to people seeking Him in Muslim countries, and they start underground Bible-believing gatherings. Sela. Powerful conversions are happening in prisons in Australia, and prisons all over the world! With God, nothing can be too hard, and every single person is valuable.
Australia, the place where the unfindable can be found
I firmly believe that in Australia, Father God specifically demonstrates His love for the most lost. He demonstrates how the Shepherd will leave the 99 and go after the one. Australia is where the impossible is possible, where the “unfindable” can indeed be found through prayer, police work, the media, teamwork, community efforts, and God’s supernatural intervention. Just look at the recent news articles on “Finding Robert Bogucki, the man who disappeared on purpose“, and “German backpacker found by local farmer“.
Gold nuggets and whole seams of gold
As I’m writing this, another news event caught my eye: “Prospector finds massive gold nugget while filming YouTube tutorial“. Again, God has my attention.
In July 2025’s “Revival is Up to Us“, John Alley refers not only to saving the teenager, i.e. the gold nugget, but also finding “the whole motherload of gold”, i.e. that teenager’s family, their friends, their school… One gold nugget can open up a whole seam of gold!
The ultimate goal of Revival is Reformation in all spheres of life — family, education, marketplace, farming, industry, technology, media, mining, circularity… the list goes on. It’s to find God’s way of doing things, to seek His wisdom in all areas of our life in this time, and to take charge here, by bringing more and more of His kingdom to earth – “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)
Showing up in this day of His power
I believe that we are living in the very best place, and in the very best of times. A long-awaited season is now here. God is already at work through His Spirit. In this day, will we be His co-workers and show ourselves strong, as prophesied in Psalm 110?
The Lord says to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
The Lord will stretch out Your strong sceptre from Zion,
saying, “Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”
Your people will volunteer freely on the day of Your power;
in holy splendour, from the womb of the dawn, Your youth are to You as the dew.
