Day 8: The Name above Every Name
Intention
To know, honour and exalt Yeshua — the name above every name.
Scripture
“Therefore God raised him to the highest place and gave him the name above every name; that in honour of the name given Yeshua, every knee will bow — in heaven, on earth and under the earth — and every tongue will acknowledge that Yeshua the Messiah is Adonai — to the glory of God the Father.”
– Philippians 2:9–11 (CJB)
Reflection
In the Bible, the title ‘Most High’ (Hebrew: Elyon – עֶלְיוֹן / Greek: hypsistos) is used 98 times in 48 verses in the KJV. It nearly always refers to God the Father. Yet in Philippians we see that Yeshua — Jesus’ Hebrew name — has been given “the name above every name”.
While the Scripture does not give Yeshua the title of the ‘Most High God’ directly, he is clearly identified as the Son of the Most High. In Mark 5:7 we read that Yeshua is called the “Son of the Most High God” and in Luke 8:28, “Son of God Most High”.
But by giving him “the name above every name”, Yeshua is unequivocally revealed to be one with the Father, sharing his divine nature and essence. Just as the Most High is above all, Yeshua is also above all — which can only be true if Yeshua is equal with God (the Most High).
During the season of Covid, the Lord gave me a vision of Father God — a figure with a white beard, holding the earth in his hands. The globe appeared beige and brown. Beige points to repentance; while brown means prayer. (I understood this from a book I’d read by Ira Milligan called Understanding the Dreams You Dream.)
Through this image, the Holy Spirit was showing me that Father God was revealing his face — which in Hebrew thought signifies his heart — to the world. He was showing me that we were in a season of repentance and prayer that would lead the nations back to his heart through Yeshua.
Sadly, some use the name of Jesus as a swear word. But the truth is that Jesus — Yeshua — is the name above all names:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12 (KJV))
Yeshua is the door, the way, the truth, and the life. There is no other way to the Father but through him (John 14:6).
And today, you and I may call on the Lord, for now is the day of salvation:
“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV))
Because Father God is the Most High, and Yeshua is the name above all names — the only name by which we can be saved — let us turn our hearts fully to the Lord. In this season, let us realign ourselves, lay aside our distractions, and walk in step with Yeshua.
Yeshua is risen. He is going before us even now. It is time for us to walk in the footsteps of Messiah Yeshua as he leads us on the path of life.

Prayer
Heavenly Father — El Elyon — dear Yeshua, Son of the Most High: today we come to bow before you as the only true and wise God, the author of life.
We are so grateful for freely giving us your abundant life. May each one of us share your light with others, so that they too will find the path that leads to El Elyon, the Most High, and to life everlasting.
Lord, you are our home, our rest, and our security. In you we live and move and have our being.
All praise, all glory, and all honour belong to you, the Most High God and Yeshua, the name above all names.
Amen.
