A Terror Story Without the Terror: Sir Salman Rushdie
The Sydney Morning Herald reported during the week that author Sir Salman Rushdie had cancelled his upcoming Australian speaking tour.
Rushdie is staying in the United States to undergo urgent eye surgery.
But have a look at the way this was reported by The Sydney Morning Herald…
“Rushdie, who survived a frenzied stabbing attack at an event in New York in 2022 where he was preparing to speak on writer safety, was scheduled to appear at The Wheeler Centre in Melbourne and the Festival of Dangerous Ideas in Sydney in August. Rushdie was blinded in one eye during the horrific attack.”
Sir Salman Rushdie: Victim of Islamic Terrorism
What the SMH doesn’t say is that Rushdie was stabbed by Hadi Matar — a Muslim whom the courts later found was motivated by Islamic extremism.
The article goes on to say that…
“The New York-based writer, who was set to speak on the fight for artistic freedom while in Australia, spent several years in hiding after the publication of The Satanic Verses in 1988 owing to serious threats against his life.”
What the article doesn’t say is that Rushdie spent years in hiding after the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran called on muslims to murder Rushdie for insulting Islam.

But again, The Sydney Morning Herald doesn’t mention that part. Readers are left to guess at what went on.
Sydney Morning Herald Terrified of Placing ‘Terror’ and ‘Islam’ in Same Sentence
So according to the SMH, you’ve got a frenzied stabbing attack in 2022… by no-one in particular.
And you’ve got threats of murder in 1988… from no-one in particular… over nothing in particular.
It’s an extraordinary way to tell a story about one of the most famous cases in modern history involving free speech, censorship and Islamic extremism… by completely leaving out the Islamic extremism part.

Extreme!
The famous author whose life has been under threat for about 40 years , a victim of a Fatwa against his life for writing “The Satanic Verses ” , but, “The Sydney Morning Herald ” deliberately omits to mention the words ” Muslim Terrorism ” for another attack on him which was intended to kill him. Self Censorship to avoid upsetting Muslims living in Australia, this bastion of no Free Speech, just following Liberal Senator Andrew Bragg who does not mention the words “Muslim ” and “Terrorism”, but , excuses their Terrorism as ” a Gene Mutation ” !
