Raising Up a Josiah Generation

Day 8: Raising Up a Josiah Generation

17 August 2026

3.4 MINS

Intention

To raise up a generation of Christians who, repenting for decades of tolerating abortion, finally make baby-killing candidates unelectable.

Scripture

“They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
They shed innocent blood—
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.

“The land was polluted by bloodshed.
They were defiled by their deeds,
and unfaithful in their actions.

“So the LORD was angry with his people
and despised the people who belonged to him.”

– Psalm 106:37–40

“Do not bring any more meaningless offerings;
I consider your incense detestable!
You observe new moon festivals, Sabbaths, and convocations,
but I cannot tolerate sin-stained celebrations!

“When you spread out your hands in prayer,
I look the other way;
when you offer your many prayers,
I do not listen,
because your hands are covered with blood.

“Learn to do what is right.
Promote justice.
Give the oppressed reason to celebrate.
Take up the cause of the orphan.
Defend the rights of the widow.”

– Isaiah 1:13, 15, 17

Reflection

These Scriptures leave me amazed and appalled by the result of the 2026 by-election for the federal seat of Farrer. The cold, hard facts are right there in black and white — and they should be the catalyst for much grief and sorrow amongst Australia’s true Christians.

It was only three months ago when 101,286 people in the Farrer electorate cast their formal votes for their new Member of Parliament.

There was only one pro-life candidate in the Farrer by-election — only one who was completely opposed to abortion.

There were other candidates who oppose late-term abortion. But late-term abortions (those after 20 weeks’ gestation) account for only 1% of all abortions in Australia. Can we really call someone who is pro 99% of abortions “pro-life”?

Almighty God would not describe someone who tolerates deliberately killing even a single baby as “pro-life”. They are supporters of the shedding of innocent blood — child sacrifice — which he hates absolutely.

According to the most recent National Church Life Survey, 13% of Australians attend church every week, and 21% at least once a month.

Tragically, that one pro-life candidate received only 1.22% of the formal votes in that by-election — not 13%. Most churchgoers (11.78%) in Farrer simply gave their primary vote to candidates who support the shedding of innocent blood.

I desperately want to ask the pastors, priests and preachers in Farrer: Do you know how much God hates child sacrifice and the shedding of innocent blood? And if they do, why don’t the Christians of Farrer know? And if they know, why does no one care enough to change the way they vote?

Let’s not delude ourselves that this tragedy is limited to one electorate. The Australian Church has permitted abortion for any reason to continue unabated for 57 years, when we could’ve stopped it in the 70s, or any decade since, if we simply cared enough to actually change the way we vote.

Let’s be the Josiah generation, noted for reformation and repentance. Let’s follow in the footsteps of Josiah, King of Judah (2 Kings 22:11; 23:10, 25):

“When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes… The king ruined Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom so that no one could pass his son or his daughter through the fire to Molech…

“No king before or after repented before the Lord as he did, with his whole heart, soul, and being in accordance with the whole law of Moses.”

(Note: Molech was a Canaanite god/idol associated with the practice of child sacrifice.)

Prayer

Almighty God, we pray that there would be a revelation of our ability as voters, and responsibility as your people, to end the curse of child sacrifice in Australia. We pray that all pastors would accept their responsibility to teach their people not only about the issues which are breaking your heart, but how to actually steward their vote to seek first his kingdom and love their neighbour with three easy steps:

  1. Fear God
  2. Love Australia
  3. Never vote for a baby killer.

Amen.

Hi, I’ve been following your organisation for some time, fully support you and have just joined up, but I’m looking for a biblically sound church to join in Adelaide. Is Jenny Hagger part of your organisation? Is she pastoring a church atm? Blessings, Colleen

    GOD’S DELIGHT.
We’re reminded in Psalm 51:16-17 that God delights a lot in obedient hearts rather than sacrificial offerings.

The greatest commandment man ever received from God, was LOVE.
Life and purpose are all about love. Man without love is unable to do God-given purposes.
Loving God is as simple as obeying His word. What He says, we do. Jesus says in John 14 that he who loves Him shall keep His word.

Loving our neighbors as ourselves is sharing with them that which God has endowed us with.
We love God’s people by using our talents and resources to bless their lives.
Love by the flesh is impossible. The flesh is selfish.
    We therefore are only enabled by the Holy Spirit to LOVE. We exercise this love through the Christ-like character which is laid out in the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. {love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, patience, goodness, self-control}
There’s no other way to express christian love to our neighbors except through the fruits above.

Australian neglected babies and their mothers are our neighbors. We love, care for and cherish them.
I have a vision to build homes for these rejected and neglected babies in Australia. A Canadian missionary came and did that here in Uganda. His ministry has stood powerfully here in Uganda blessing orphans and street children for over Four Decades now.
It succeeded in Uganda. It will succeed in Australia.

    God bless you
