Words as Weapons: What Hamas Propaganda Taught Me About Gender Ideology

“Trans women are women.” Repeat it enough and it starts to feel true. That’s not an argument — it’s a propaganda technique. And Australia’s courts are now enforcing gender ideology.

Words have become weaponised in Australia. And in many cases, they have been deliberately inverted.

Politicians and the courts don’t bat an eyelid at the lies and deception of gender ideology, in fact they uphold the lies and punish dissent.

In Australia, we are increasingly being told that biological sex is something that can simply be changed. Men can be women. “Breastfeeding” becomes “chestfeeding”.

The word woman itself now apparently needs qualifiers such as “cis”, “cervix haver” or “menstruator” to distinguish women from males.

And what happens when women challenge this?

They are labelled “transphobic”, “hateful” or “TERFs”.

Worse still, we are taken to court, humiliated and punished for observing reality and making decisions based on that reality.

The High Court refused Sall Grover’s appeal, leaving the Federal Court’s position on sex and gender standing.

Women are left questioning what meaningful protection remains for single-sex spaces, services and sport.

Propaganda and Gender Ideology

I have just spent two weeks in Israel, and one of the most thought-provoking experiences was hearing Dr Einat Wilf speak about propaganda and mass persuasion.

She explained how Hamas propaganda has been extraordinarily successful in shaping international perceptions of Israel, using techniques of mass manipulation that have been refined over decades, especially by the Soviets.

It struck me that many of these same techniques are evident in the promotion of gender ideology.

1. SIMPLE SLOGANS

“Trans women are women.”

“Humans can change sex.”

“Anyone who disagrees is a transphobe.”

Complex biological and social questions are reduced to simple statements that are repeated until questioning them becomes socially or legally unacceptable.

2. POWERFUL IMAGERY

Pretty rainbow flags. Emotional personal stories. Carefully constructed images of vulnerable people.

And then the deliberate portrayal of anyone who questions the ideology as cruel, hateful or dangerous.

3. REPETITION

This may be the most powerful tool of all.

Repeat a message often enough and familiarity begins to feel like truth. Our brains use familiarity as a shortcut.

We can start to recognise something as “true” simply because we have heard it so many times.

That should concern all of us.

Is Truth Still Allowed?

This isn’t about whether we like or dislike individuals.

It isn’t about denying anyone dignity or kindness. In fact it is the opposite.

It is about whether we are still allowed to question claims about sex, biology, language and law without being vilified or punished for doing so.

It is monumentally cruel to lie and deceive people.

It is dangerous to legislate those lies.

When slogans replace evidence, when language is inverted, when dissent is punished and when repetition substitutes for argument, we should stop and ask: Are we being persuaded by evidence – or by propaganda?

Mark my words. This is not just about gender ideology.

If the courts and parliament collude to uphold laws that defy reality and harm women and children, what else do you think they will be able to do?

P.S. Signing the petition demanding a discrimination law that uses the biological definitions of “male” and “female” is now more important than ever. If you haven’t already, please add your name. If you have, please forward to your family and friends now!
