Frank Turek to Megyn Kelly: “God Still Reigns. Charlie Kirk Did Not Die in Vain.”
Frank Turek has encouraged a frustrated Megyn Kelly not to view God’s silence as evidence of His absence.
Kelly hosted the Christian apologist and mentor to Charlie Kirk in a September segment, where she asked him to help her make sense of Kirk’s murder.
Turek, a former United States Navy aviator, reminded Kelly that the existence of suffering and pain “does not mean God doesn’t care about us.”
Using C.S. Lewis’ Problem of Pain, Turek then described pain as “God’s megaphone to rouse a [morally] deaf world.”
Explaining God’s presence in the incarnation and atonement, Turek said, God’s son was innocent. Yet He was put to death on a cross.

God took our place and took on that pain and suffering to save us from our sins.
This is because “an infinitely just God can’t allow any of us to go unpunished. Otherwise, God wouldn’t be infinitely just.”
As Isaiah 53 and Romans 3 proclaim, Turek said, “We’re all fallen. We all need a saviour. Jesus is our substitute.”
In other words, God is not an indifferent and unconcerned spectator here; He is very much in the thick of the fight!
When asked by people, “If God is good, why doesn’t He stop evil?” Turek said he replies: “Maybe because if He did, he might start with you and me, because we do evil every day.”
“Although we can ask questions like why God would let Charlie Kirk die? We also know that God can bring good from it.”
In Kirk’s life, Turek added, “Jesus was number one. Everything else was secondary.”
Exasperated, Kelly, whose show the slain 31-year-old Turning Point founder frequented as a guest, paused the conversation.
She then expressed her frustration with trying to make sense of the tragedy.
“He was wearing a St Michael’s medallion,” she said.
“I mean, St Michael. He’s the one who’s supposed to protect us in battle, defend us against the wickedness and snares of the devil.”
“I don’t get it,” Kelly remarked.
“I don’t know why I’m putting it all on St Michael as opposed to Jesus. And you know, Charlie Kirk was wearing a cross.
“If I went out in front of a crowd wearing a cross and a St Michael’s medal, I would feel next to invincible.
“Not only was he shot and killed, but he was shot and killed around the neck, almost exactly where the necklace was,” she observed.
“I know what you said about God sacrificing His own Son,” Kelly told Turek, “I just feel like [Kirk’s murder] doesn’t make sense to me.”
“I’m angry. I’m mad at God.”
Awakening
That’s okay, Turek replied.
“Read the Psalms. It’s okay to be mad at God.”
“It’s okay to question God. Job did. God can take it, just don’t blaspheme Him. Just don’t say, ‘I’m no longer a believer.”
Adding his own thoughts, Turek shared that when asked about why God allowed Kirk’s assassination, his answer is,
“We live in a fallen world. None of us is guaranteed 80 pain-free years.
“I don’t know why God allowed Charlie Kirk to be killed.
“I’m inside of time. I hardly know any of the past. Very little of the present. I know none of the future.
“Maybe God allowing this to happen is going to set forth a ripple that’s going to bring many to Christ around the world?”
Pain and suffering can wake us up. “Sometimes you only look up when you’re on your back.”
Turek concluded by pointing out that this awakening to God is exactly what seems to be happening.
God is far from silent in the midst of this suffering.

Kelly and Turek’s 45-minute segment also covered the apologist’s relationship with Kirk, how they met, and the interests that brought them together.
Additionally, Turek, who was on site at the time, gives a minute-by-minute recount of Kirk’s assassination.
Notably, when responding to a comment from Kelly about the current investigation, Turek said that Utah police and campus security appeared to have dropped a “really big ball that day.”
He then called on Trump appointees in the FBI to hold those responsible to account.
