Bondi Beach massacre

The Bondi Terrorist Attack and Hindsight – Marking the 3-Month Anniversary

14 March 2026

13.2 MINS

The 2025 Bondi Beach mass shooting, an antisemitic terror attack, took place on Sunday, 14 December 2025, beginning around 6:42–6:47 pm. It occurred during a Hanukkah celebration, resulting in 15 deaths and 42 injuries.

Today is 14 March 2026, three months since this terrorist attack, so it might be useful to investigate whether there were any warnings before the event and to understand what has transpired and changed since the event.

Prophetic Warning

On Sunday, 8 November 2025, a Pentecostal pastor, Selwyn Van Wyk, was preaching in Mount Druitt when he was given the following prophetic word:

“There is a seismic event coming upon Australia. It’s going to transform this Nation.

Nothing will be able to stop it

The Lord says I’ve checkmated Satan over this Nation;

The Devil says to God, ‘I’m going to dissolve this Nation, and I’m going to destroy this Nation.’

But the Lord says, ‘You cannot destroy that which I’ve called good.’

The event coming to this Nation will grip the hearts of every Australian, young and old, rich and poor, weak and strong.

The political establishment will immediately shift, there will be a pardine shift in the political establishment of our Nation.

Don’t get used to the spirit of weakness that is in our Government, expect something to change.

There is an awakening that is coming over this nation;

Those who have been in long-term amnesia are going to awaken from the dust of the Earth.

The prayers and voices of your Forefathers have not gone silent; they are about to awaken.

The Australian spirit is about to arise, and it will unite with the Holy Spirit.

You will find me in the inconspicuous places, in the upper rooms of this Nation;

I am coming to restore what the Locust has stolen.”

Other Warnings

There had been many other warnings which had been given to the government of this Nation, which had been ignored, such as:

  • The Prime Minister of Israel had warned the Prime Minister of Australia that if Australia joined with the rabble of Nations to present a proposal to recognise the terrorist state of Palestine and support a two-state solution in Israel, that Australia would be opened to increased terrorist influences on Australia. We know that this is biblically true because the Bible says that those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed.
  • Australia had willingly imported many terrorists from Gaza as humanitarian refugees with very little vetting of them, while other nations nearby, including Egypt and Jordan, both of which have had attempted takeover attempts by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is Hamas. Other Muslim nations would not touch them.
  • In July 2025, the Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, Jillian Segal, unveiled a 20-page landmark planin July with 49 key recommendations to fight the rise of antisemitism, the “ongoing physical safety of Jewish communities”, and “maintaining strong law enforcement to prevent and respond to antisemitic threats”.  None of these recommendations had been actioned by December 2025.
  • The Islamic marches, which are not protests, have been allowed to tramp all over the cities of Australia shouting out hate speech, antisemitic slogans and murderous words, defiling the atmosphere, public infrastructure and the land.
  • There have been numerous attacks on Jewish people and buildings around the nation.
  • Overall, many Jewish Australians and non-Jewish people have been traumatised.
  • Anti-semitic actions were taking place at universities with no adequate reaction from the Government or the University management.

What Has Transpired Since

As predicted in the above prophetic word:

  • We all saw an event which I believe has changed this nation in many ways. It has indeed affected all Australians.
  • The Government very quickly made the following changes to gun laws, and after heavy lobbying, implemented a Royal Commission into Anti-Semitism.
  • Satan has been trying to dissolve and destroy this Nation by Water (too much), drought, fires and major events, which have driven insurance costs up dramatically. There were some discussions that the East Coast of Australia was uninsurable, and this may now include the whole of Australia.  Even as I write this, a major rain band which looked like it was going to bring relief to farmers is now causing major flooding and damage to the land, infrastructure and stock in the centre and in New South Wales. This has been a repeated scenario over Australia for a number of years.
  • The Government refrained from endorsing a recommendation against Israel to the UN.
  • The Sydney Police Commissioner apologised to the Jewish community for not protecting them.
  • The Australian spirit has arisen and will continue to rise. It should be a rejoicing that one of the first people who arose and showed his courage at Bondi was a Syrian-born Aussie of Muslim faith Ahmed al-Ahmed.  Ahmed suffered 5 bullet wounds when he wrestled a gun off one of the gunmen and still lived and was rewarded by the people of Australia and around the World with a significant Crowd Fund.  Ahmed had been in Australia for 20 years and considered himself to be an Aussie. This proves that Australia is populated by people if they are willing to surrender their hatred of others, can be a blessing to others and be greatly blessed themselves.

Australia Has Forgotten Its Roots

They say a nation’s spirit is forged in wars. Indeed, we have seen that in Australia.

The Australian servicemen have been involved in the two world wars. In both of them, Australian servicemen have been used in two miraculous battles to rescue the Jewish nation.

800 Horsemen

An extract from Col Stringer’s Book, 800 Horsemen (well worth reading):

In 1099, Godfrey of Bouillon and his knights conquered Jerusalem, following a five-week siege. There followed wholesale slaughter of the city’s inhabitants, including all of its Jewish citizens, many burned alive in their synagogues. In 1187, Saladin defeated the Crusaders, re-entered Jerusalem, restored all the buildings that had been mosques (notably the Dome of the Rock and the al-Aqsa mosque), while turning other churches into stables or granaries.

In World War I, the battle to remove the Turks from Palestine and Jerusalem involved a Large British and Australian force in the Sinai Desert to attack Beersheba, which was the gateway to Jerusalem. The key to the battle was the Gaza-Beersheba fortifications.

Beersheba, meaning “well of the oath”, so named by Abraham in the book of Genesis. The well had provided water not only to Abraham, but to Moses and David. Any army approaching its life-giving wells has to march for days through the waterless Sinai desert. All the Turks had to do was hold off an attack for one day, and the merciless desert sun would do the rest.

Despite constant assaults by the combined forces of the British and Australian armies, the place could not be taken. Then came the fateful day of October 31, 1917. This was also, coincidentally, the 400th anniversary of the Reformation. The British generals were desperate; 50,000 British infantry with tank support had been driven back into the desert. With the sun about to set and with no water for many miles, disaster stared them squarely in the face. The situation was becoming grave as they were in urgent need of 400,000 gallons of water for men and horses.

Australian General Harry Chauvel concocted a crazy plan. Why not let his 800 horsemen charge the Turkish artillery? A cavalry charge across 6000 yards of open terrain straight into the face of the massed Turkish guns. It sounded like a recipe for disaster.

No wonder the German officer commanding the Turkish defences described the Aussie Light Horsemen as “madmen”! They had no swords or lancers, but were equipped with rifles and bayonets designed for infantry warfare. But left with virtually no alternative, the desperate General gave the order for the last great cavalry charge in history!

The Light Horsemen charged magnificently across the dusty plains, so fast that the Turkish artillery could not keep pace with them, and the “mad” horsemen were able to slip under their guns. As they leapt the trenches laced with machine gun bullets, a magnificent cheer went up from the British ranks; even some of the Turks stood and applauded, such was the magnificence of the feat.

Although hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned, they charged on. Beersheba – the gateway to Jerusalem, fell that day to the Australian Light Horsemen!

The rest is history. “Beersheba – well of the oath – was in Australian hands by the time the last rays of fading daylight had gone from the desert sky. This deed would live on as the proudest achievement in the colourful story of the legendary Light Horse, the force that was probably the most uniquely Australian fighting unit ever raised.

Eight hundred Aussie light horsemen had achieved what 50,000 British troops with tanks could not do, what even the Crusaders or Napoleon could not do! They had opened the doorway to Jerusalem against seemingly insurmountable odds after more than 400 years of Islamic rule.

The Australian Light Horse also included First Nations people who were exceptional horsemen and had to enlist by lying about their identity.

Part of this magnificent piece of History is told in a number of Books and is recreated in the movie The Light Horsemen.

Watch an excerpt from the 1987 movie about the charge of the Lighthorsemen against Beersheba.

The Rats of Tobruk

The second major battle that Australian troops were involved in to protect Israel was during World War II, when Australian troops were under Australian General Morehead, an exceptional general. Given a simple command to hold Tobruk for eight weeks, they held it for five months, and their eventual replacements held it for another five months.

The city of Tobruk, overlooking the harbour, which was a port that Rommel wanted and needed to supply his troops rather than his overland supply route, across 1,500 km of desert, which left the supply line very vulnerable to attack. Rommel’s army had travelled across North Africa, crushing all who opposed him, but at Tobruk, he needed to correct this supply route before he could complete the last stage of taking the Suez Canal, which was a vital British supply route. He assumed, like all the other towns he came across, that taking Tobruk would be a simple process.

However, Rommel was very wrong. Even with superior manpower and hundreds of tanks, they were held at bay and could not take the port even with superior manpower, and total control of the air and the sea during the day. The siege of Tobruk lasted from April to December 1941 and involved over 14,000 Australian soldiers, along with some British, Poles and Jewish soldiers. Tobruk was vital for the Allies’ defence of Egypt and the Suez Canal and the unpublicised one, Palestine.

The total Australian losses during the siege, from 1st March to 15th December, amounted to 832 killed, 2177 wounded and 941 prisoners.

Rommel’s forces included around 27,000 German soldiers and 280 German tanks.  It also included Italian military personnel and tanks.

Tobruk was held for five months by the Australians before being relieved. The original request was to hold for eight weeks.  General Morehead was the Australian General in charge of the siege. The German radio mocked the men in Tobruk, calling them the “rats of Tobruk”, but the Australians adopted this as a badge of honour. This possibly explains part of the Australian spirit.   If you were European-born, you may have thought this was an insult not worth repeating.  But the Australian spirit aligns with the underdog, and gladly accepted this insult, turning it into a badge of honour.

Rommel’s main objective of the North African campaign was the Suez Canal, which was a vital supply line for the British war effort. But the Jewish soldiers were under no illusions; they knew that if Tobruk fell, Suez and then Palestine, only a short distance away, would be next to fall, and Hitler would have his way of wiping out the entire Jewish people as they had been doing in all the towns in North Africa on the way to Tobruk.

Palestine and the elimination of the Jews was an unrecognised objective of the Nazis, through the North African campaign. (Source: Kelvin Crombie, El Alamein.)

Aboriginal Australians Go to Bat for Israel

Israel is the only country in the world that has an embassy for indigenous people. Situated in the heart of Jerusalem, the Indigenous Peoples’ Embassy pays tribute to clans and tribes around the world, and is a testament to shared heritage.

As antisemitism surges around the world, we need to be reminded that Israel and the Jewish people have many friends. Some of them are from indigenous communities, such as the Aboriginal people in Australia.

Aboriginal support for Jews predates the establishment of the State of Israel. Before the Holocaust, William Cooper, a Yorta Yorta Aboriginal elder and activist, expressed strong support for the Jewish people. He led a march to the German consulate in 1938.

He didn’t march for his own people. He marched for the Jewish people— strangers to him but bound to him by a shared understanding of suffering and the unyielding belief in justice. Cooper led a protest against Nazi violence, condemning the persecution of Jews and delivering a petition to the German consulate in Melbourne following the horrific events of Kristallnacht.

This act of solidarity with the Jewish people was remarkable, particularly considering that he was fighting primarily for Aboriginal rights at the time. Cooper recognised that both communities suffered horrendous discrimination and shared similar historical narratives.

Christian businessman Warren Mundine has come out strongly in support of Israel.

Besides being an Australian Aboriginal leader, Warren Mundine is respected both as an advocate for indigenous people and a former politician, having served as national president of the Australian Labor Party.

He has been extremely vocal in his support for the Jewish state and also visited Israel post-October 7.  He has taken to social media and the airwaves to speak up for Israel and Jewish indigenous rights.

Angry at the conflation of indigenous rights and pro-Palestinian politics, Mundine said on a Sky News Australia broadcast in January 2024, “Israel has been there for thousands of years in the Bible and Quran; it is insane to conflate the two. The idea that Jews are interlopers is absolute nonsense.”

He added, “Why are Australians protesting fellow Australians outside their synagogues or on the steps of the Opera House? I want to highlight the fact that Jews are the indigenous people of the Middle East and of Israel, and to say they aren’t is nonsense. Indigenous people in Australia are being used by the pro-Palestine movement.”

Perhaps the best-known indigenous voice for Israel is former parliamentarian and Olympian, Nova Peris. Peris visited Israel very soon after October 7 and shared her thoughts about the trip.

“I’ve shed many tears listening and bearing witness to the stories of horror. To the Jewish people, I am truly sorry. I share your pain. I understand, as a First Nation woman, what it is like to have your very existence try to be erased. Today I’m here on your ancestral lands to walk, to touch, and to see your country.”

Speaking at the Courage to Care Victoria’s event at the Gandel Gallery on 31 March, she discussed her commitment to speaking out publicly against antisemitism following the October 7 Hamas assault.

Nova Peris said I see the deep parallels between the Aboriginal and Jewish peoples. Both of us have endured systemic oppression and attempts to erase our histories, and yet both of us have survived—stronger, prouder, and more determined to ensure that these injustices are never forgotten. William Cooper’s protest was an extraordinary act of courage. It was an act of empathy, of moral clarity, and of profound humanity. It reminds us that we cannot stand silent in the face of injustice.”

While many Australian Jews may feel betrayed by their government’s lack of action against antisemitism, they can rest assured that they have close allies and support from the country’s Aboriginal community.

The Australian Spirit

One of the statements in the above prophetic word is that the Australian Spirit would arise in this nation.

What is this Australian Spirit?

The Australian Spirit was shown in the Australian Light Horse.  These Australians were noted for:

  • their good humour under almost any condition,
  • their boldness in combat
  • a unique sense of “fair play” and justice.
  • Encouragement for the `little battler’.
  • Aussies have always tended to favour the underdog

They were not infected by the strong anti-Semitic feelings that plagued most of Europe. These rugged horsemen lived by an unwritten code of ethics –

  • You never left a “mate”, no matter what the cost!

Another quality that separated these bushmen from the likes of regular British troops was:

  • An ability to think and act for themselves under pressure.
  • Australians and New Zealanders worked well together
  • A number of First Nation Troopers were in the Light Horse (they were exceptional horsemen). They had to enlist incognito.

Recent Examples of the Australian Spirit in Operation

Since this event, we have seen the following examples of the Australian spirit arise:

  • A 13-year-old boy left his mother and two other small siblings who were swept out to sea in Western Australia and swam four kilometres over four hours, in rough ocean waves, then ran 2 kilometres to call 000 for help. He and everyone were amazed when all his family were rescued in the twilight.
  • This one may not be understood as a heroic act, but the 90,000 Australian heroes who surrounded a LIV Golf game in Adelaide on the 16th February 2026 and watched, cheered, cried and rejoiced as American golfer Anthony Kim who had 16 years before, been a major golf winner but had succumbed to physical damage, alcohol, drugs and depression, and given his golf clubs away. He had struggled and persevered for years to reclaim his golfing skills.  This crowd watched and cheered with him as he came from behind in one of the most amazing jaw-dropping comeback story seen in any sporting event. American he might be, but in Australia he displayed the Australian spirit.
  • Many other undocumented examples of the Australian spirit, triggered by a Syrian-born Aussie of Muslim faith, Ahmed al-Ahmed, and other courageous Australians.

Our Australian Identity

The Battle of Beersheba is a significant event in Australian history. It has been called “Australia’s first big achievement on the world stage.  Historian Jonathan King has argued that “the Battle of Beersheba should be the cornerstone of our Australian identity, replacing Gallipoli, which was a British-led defeat.  Australia does not celebrate Gallipoli; it remembers the loss and honours those who gave their lives for this Nation.  Defeats do not really promote a victory spirit in a Nation.

But Beersheba and the protection of Tobruk were miraculous Australian-led victories led by Australian Generals and should be celebrated and taught, together with the Australian ‘can-do’ spirit.”

We do not understand the spiritual significance of either of these Battles in shaping the Australian spirit and linking Australia with Israel.  Whether we like it or not, Australia’s history, destiny and legend are heavily bound up in protecting Israel. We have to be sure that any people who come to this country understands this fact.

Much has been recorded about Australia’s Light Horsemen from a historic and military angle; little, to my knowledge, has been produced showing the Biblical significance of what took place. These young men from the youngest nation on earth, were the chosen vessels of the Lord, a modern Gideon’s army or David’s Mighty men.  They were the spearhead in the liberation of the Holy Land and God’s chosen city Jerusalem, from centuries of Muslim rule and domination, on the 400th anniversary of the Reformation. These young Aussies were used as no other nation in history has been used by the Lord.

As Shakespeare wrote ” something is rotten in the State of Denmark ” (Hamlet ). In our case something is seriously rotten in Australia that a man of great integrity and former ASIO boss, Mr Richardson , felt his only recourse was to resign from the Royal Commission into the Bondi Massacre of Jews. While we do not know other specific reason(s) for his decision, he made the point that he was unhappy that the Report would not be made public by the end of April when it is due to finish , but, be available to the public only in December while in the meantime the Jewish Community are terrified.

A great article. By the way, Barry Rodgers led a reenactment of the Beersheba charge on their 90th, 95th and 100th anniversaries. Some of the descendants of the original soldiers were in it, including some aborigines. At the 100th anniversary, the prime ministers of Israel and Australia and also a representative from New Zealand attended in Beersheba. He has written a book about it. Barry will be running an Anzac Family Camp from 25th to 27th April including a Lighthorse Demonstration. It should be amazing. http://www.PindariCentre.com.au

Anniversary is derived from the Latin ‘annum’ which means ‘year.’ Anniversaries are, by definition, annual events. There is no such thing as a ……. month anniversary. What will it be next? Weeks? Days? milliseconds?

We do remember recent significant events. Eg. Parents 1, 2 3, 6 month celebrations of newborns.
In this case Bondi and it’s implication will echo into Aussie minds for decades.
We say Never Again! And that means remembering.
