Australia's illicit drug epidemic is expanding unchecked, with billion-dollar consumption costs and rising deaths, while police management and politicians continue to obscure the true scale of the crisis.

What people don’t know – and what senior police won’t tell you – is that a decrease in recorded drug offences correlates directly with reduced police productivity. It does not correlate with reduced drug crime, as police bosses would have you believe.

Research reveals that at least 60 per cent of all illicit drugs that pass through adolescent hands are stored, sold and/or used at their schools. And it is a fact that adolescents spend more than 80 per cent of the time they are in the company or proximity of friends, at school.
