Day 8: Who Do You Say That I Am?

8 May 2021

3.4 MINS

Intention
Only a real encounter with Jesus will truly transform the soul from believer to follower of Christ.

Scripture

“He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter answered and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.’”Matthew 16:15-18

Reflection
A month ago I had an encounter where God showed me this scenario with Peter and Jesus. I discerned by the Spirit that God was releasing this revelation on the earth. God confirmed this four separate times during the month through other speakers and preachers I had been listening to.

Reflecting on this, I pondered and prayed to God, “Father I get it, but where and how do I release this?” God made it clear that there are four ways this applies to us today.

First, Peter came face-to-face with the Son of God. Peter followed Jesus, but only his encounter revealed the Son of God in His deity and power—and the kingdom of God that Jesus was demonstrating. Let us all ask for face-to-face encounters with Jesus.

Second, Peter received the revelation of Jesus only by the Father through His Holy Spirit. Father God rent the heavens and affirmed His Son, saying, “This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased”. (We read about this in Scriptures such as 2 Peter 1:17. Mark 9:7, Matthew 17:5, Matthew 3:1, Luke 3:22, Mark 1:11, and Matthew 12:18). Because of the miracle he saw, Peter believed Jesus, and followed him. But it was the revelation that empowered him to be the kind of disciple who imitated Christ.

Third, God revealed Jesus as the Christ—the “Anointed One”—the one called by God to manifest God on the earth as Saviour, healer and deliverer (see Isaiah 61:1-3 and Luke 4:18). It is the anointing of the Anointed Christ that breaks the yoke of bondage. The anointing ‘dunamis’ power of God is released by the Holy Spirit, in order that the works of Christ might be released on the earth and His kingdom displayed on earth as it is in heaven.

Finally, Peter acknowledged Jesus publicly as the Christ and declared Him to be the Son of the Living God. An encounter with Jesus transforms us to acknowledge Jesus, the son of God, and the power of God unto salvation. Such an encounter leads to a powerful transformation—a testimony of Christ and His Kingdom, whereby all people will give glory to the Father.

Prayer
Father, according to Matthew 9:38, we pray and ask you as the Lord of the harvest to send forth your labourers into Your harvest fields of the earth. Anoint them with your revelation of Jesus as you did to Peter, so that they might impart the powerful revelation of Christ the Anointed One to the souls whom you have appointed for your salvation. We prophesy and decree as the gospel is preached through this month that Revelation 7:9 will come to pass: “A great multitude which no one could count, from all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands will cry out, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the Throne, and to the Lamb!’” In Yeshua’s name we pray. Amen.
