Day 19: Wanted: Messengers to Deliver Good News

19 May 2021

2.5 MINS

Intention
Stand up for Christ in a sinful world and deliver the only news that saves!

Scripture

“Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!’ And they left their nets at once and followed him.”Mark 1:17-18

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes — the Jew first and also the Gentile.”Romans 1:16

Reflection
Here is a challenging thought: have we truly obeyed the call? Not answered — but obeyed. Jesus calls us to obey. Obedience is an act of worship and a demonstration of our faith. God rewards obedience.

In John 14:15, Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commands”. Obedience is also evidence of our love for Jesus. 1 Samuel 15:22 says that “Obedience is better than sacrifice.”

Obedience is essential in our relationship with God. It is part of what it means to live in partnership with Him. Obedience only comes natural to us who abide in Him.

In John 15:5, Jesus says, “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” This is a Scripture I remind myself of daily: I cannot do anything without Him, and obedience should not come from a place of fear but of love. We are called to remain in Him daily, whether through the Word, prayer, praise, worship — and just by doing life with Him.

We are new creations, and we are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:17-21). We are not God, but we carry God. We are His vessels, and through us He speaks truth, love and life.

God wants this for everyone, so what’s stopping us? What or whom should we fear? Our Father hasn’t given us a spirit of fear. If we want others to encounter God and receive Christ, we mustn’t be ashamed of the only news that brings forth life!

Go to the lost, in the home, in the mart
Delay no longer, today make a start
Tell them of Jesus who bled for their sin
From byways of darkness bring others to Him

Prayer
Thank You Lord for your Spirit — the Holy Spirit who dwells within us all. Lord, I pray that You send us out as mighty soldiers for Your kingdom. Help us to act in immediate obedience to any opportunity to share the gospel with no fear or shame, but with boldness and love for You. We obey You because we love You, Lord. Guide our tongues to bring forth living water for those who are thirsty, and deliver food that lasts for eternity. Jesus, You are indeed “the way, the truth and the life”. Help us, Lord, to breathe the good news upon all of your creation! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hey your devontional was aw inspiring and I love the passion and truth you poured into this miraculous devoutional. As a sister in christ with you I’m honoured to have you in my life and to strengthen me in this dark, sinful world we reside. No matter what terror the devil will put us ‘as Warriors’ under tribulation may we all ENDURE to the end with obediance. Any way even if we do suffer Jermiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you declared to Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. And I pray prosperous fruit over you as well as our family. Love you
