Day 23: Why Not Here and Now?
Intention
We hear of revivals in other times and other lands, but there is no reason the same thing can’t happen here and now.
Scripture
“So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.” — Acts 2:41-47
Reflection
Come Holy Spirit. Whenever I read this small section of Scripture my heart comes alive. Do it again Lord! Can you imagine this happening in your town, your community, or your church? Imagine if 3,000 were added to the church in one day – it’s mind blowing! To witness a move of God like no other, the explosion of power taking place, being caught up in something so miraculous and awe-inspiring could only turn us afresh to God.
Picture it: left, right and centre; miracle after miracle breaking out; the poor, the widow, the orphan no longer having any needs. Imagine the beauty, the richness and oneness of meeting together daily with the saints, encouraging each other by the power of the Spirit, and hearing testimonies each night of people being saved.
Why not now? Don’t you want to see this happen in our nation, the great Southland of the Holy Spirit? Give me more faith Lord! Help me to believe it will happen in our day!
I experienced a small glimpse of this back in 2011, when I had the chance to live in mainland China for a couple of weeks. I remember as a new Christian being caught up in this all-consuming tornado that was the underground church. Each night we were reading the Scriptures, praying, sharing testimonies and singing our hearts out. The Spirit of God was moving powerfully, with many coming to the Lord during my short visit.
Why is it when we read the book of Acts we think of God moving powerfully in China, India, the Middle East or South America? Why not here? And why not now? Wouldn’t you love to see a fresh move of the Holy Spirit.
On this Pentecost Sunday, we say, ‘Do it again Lord!’ We desire to see you add to your church in Australia each day. We want to see our friends, our family, our neighbours, and our co-workers come to Christ. We desire that none would perish but that they would turn back to you. Come Holy Spirit, move afresh we pray!
Prayer
Pour out your Spirit afresh Lord! Do it again Father! Give us more faith to take you at your Word, to believe that you are the God of the impossible and the God who moves mountains! We thank you that your Word says you will pour out your Spirit on all people. God, we want to see sons and daughters prophesying, young men and women seeing visions and the older generation dreaming dreams. We want to see wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below! Thank you God that everyone who calls on your name will be saved! We pray our friends, our family, our neighbours and our co-workers will call out to you Lord Jesus. Move mightily we pray! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.
