Day 31: Come, Follow Me…
Intention
How you can follow Jesus in the way He meant for you
Scripture
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
– Matthew 4:19
Reflection
A Testimony: From Unbeliever to Christ in 40 seconds!
A young man, Daniel, met with me to talk about his career in the military. He was with a commando company and worked as a navy diver.
I offered lunch to talk over things as I had been an army officer. We covered his strengths, etc., including his spiritual orientation.
He said he was an atheist.
After lunch, I offered to show him a presentation about Christianity called The Way of Life. Because he was being polite, I went through the presentation tentatively and asked:
“Do you believe that Jesus could’ve died for you?”
Daniel said, “Could’ve.”
As soon as Daniel said, “Could’ve” the Holy Spirit fell upon both of us. I felt God’s Presence and Daniel, the atheist, felt His Presence too. He experienced a deep sense of foreboding. He exclaimed, “What’s happening?” I said “It’s the Holy Spirit. He has come to warn you of the sin in your life.”
Daniel said, “What do I do?” I said, “You need to pray the Sinner’s Prayer.”
After 30-40 seconds, Daniel prayed to receive Christ. He rang his wife who asked to see me. “What have you done to my husband? Why him and not me?” Later she too received Christ and both Daniel and his wife have been baptised and are serving the Lord to this day.
You can find Daniel’s testimony here.
What is Jesus saying in Matthew 4:19?
The first words of Jesus to His disciples, recorded in Matthew’s Gospel, are all about calling you (yes, you!) to the work of bringing souls to Him for their salvation.
“This is a faithful saying and worthy of acceptance by all, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” ~ 1 Timothy 1:15
Saving sinners was the number one priority on Jesus’s mind when He began His ministry. Consequently, it makes sense for us to make His number one priority our number one priority.
So… everywhere we go as part of the Australia For Jesus movement, we are finding people who are responding to Jesus’ call to follow Him and bring lost people to the saving knowledge of God through Christ.
The times we are in are increasingly evil. Iniquity is abounding, but there is also an openness on the part of many in Australia (and New Zealand) to find the truth. And the ONLY TRUTH that matters, and which will save them, is in Jesus Christ.
Australia For Jesus is training and enabling many, many people to get out there and present the Gospel. We use The Way of Life, through which God is blessing and enabling 45 per cent of all who see it to respond with the prayer of salvation. You can get The Way of Life Gospel presentation on your mobile phone at www.afj.org.au. There, you will find that there are just THREE THINGS you will need to do to become an effective soul winner for the LORD.

Prayer
Dear Father,
Thank You for drawing us by Your Holy Spirit to lift up the Name of Jesus in these last days. Help me to be the soul-winner that, as a Christian, I am called to be as I follow Jesus. I pray that You will pour out the fire of the Holy Spirit upon me so that I can go forth to share Jesus: the Way of Life Eternal, with all who will listen.
I pray this in Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
