Day 10: Freedom from Torment
Many suffer greatly through post-abortion grief. Often this pain is locked away and can destroy lives and relationships. Pray for those in torment, grief, and guilt to know they can be forgiven and set free and come to experience the extravagant love of Christ daily.
Jesus’ words in Luke 7:47, “Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”
Post-abortion syndrome is very real in women, which equals PTSD — the symptoms often in varying degrees include sadness, long-term grief, guilt, flashbacks, memory repression, anniversary reactions, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, increased alcohol and drug use, difficulty maintaining close relationships and social and sexual dysfunction.
Intense feelings of regret, shame and anger also are regularly experienced by women after an abortion. The shame comes from looking back at the experience they have just been through. The anger comes from knowing they were responsible for their shame.
Studies by researchers also conclude that women often have difficulty coping in life after an abortion.
Australian Research Presented: World Psychiatric Association Conference (Melbourne Nov 2007)
This research tracked 1,122 young women from birth for 21 years. Researcher Kaeleen Dingle presented her findings of a clear link between self-destructive behaviour and abortion. Those who had an abortion were 3.6 times more likely to abuse hard drugs, twice as likely to be binge drinkers and nearly twice as likely to suffer depression, according to Dingle et. al. ‘Pregnancy loss and psychiatric disorders in young women: an Australian birth cohort study’, The British Journal of Psychiatry (2008), pp. 193, 452-454.
We the church are to be as Christ, full of compassion, for these women in our lives — some of them are in our churches. Like Jesus, Who was discerning about the heart condition of the woman at the well, offered her life-giving water of the Holy Spirit to quench her thirsting soul from emotional losses.
Jesus answered and said to her,
“Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
~ John 4:13-14 (NKJV)
Watch
Prayer
Father, thank You that Your grace abounds and Your compassion never fails. Have mercy on women who are suffering post-abortion syndrome and be with them in their recovery. May they find true forgiveness as You bring justice for the unborn, by releasing Your truth and light into every place where our society has fallen into the deep darkness of aborting viable babies.
Thank You for the frontline workers who counsel the women (and at times men) caught in this suffering. Let Your living water flow bringing healing. Jehovah Sabaoth, send Your mighty angels, ministering spirits to rescue the broken, and warring angels to arrest the tormentors and establish the freedom purchased at Calvary. In Jesus’ powerful Name, Amen.
Prayer Points
- Pray for greater discernment to recognise those around us who are in torment, grief, and guilt. Ask for grace, forgiveness, and mercy of the Holy Spirit in us to flow to them so they understand they can be forgiven and set free, and they experience the extravagant love of Christ through us, His church.
- We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life! For hearts to be awakened and every Christian to rally to rescue the unborn as the church rises up to “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.
These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:
- Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
- On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, possibly overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
- The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.
Pray that abortion will not increase in Australia. The ACT Government has announced it will provide free abortions from 2023. There are also calls for taxpayers to fund abortions nationwide, and for nurses to be allowed to give out abortion pills.

Nurses to give out free abortion drugs.
Just so in the 1980’s we started to initiate the “ Harm minimisation initiative “ we gave out free needles and syringes and stepped into this initiative, via education and indoctrination. By “we”I mean my colleagues and I who were at that time employed by NSW the Health Department.
As I look around now….and see the death and destruction caused by the so called Harm Minimisation Initiative I am shaken to my core by the horror of the consequences.
