Invitation to Enjoy the Unhurried Gait of Grace
Intention
To encounter the life-giving ways of the kingdom and grow in them by giving attention to our inner health and managing the functions of our hearts.
Scripture
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine.
Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.”
(Matt 11:28–29, TPT)
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
(2 Cor 4:18, NIV)
Reflection: Looking to the Unseen – Encountering Ease
The steadying peace of silence
The unhurried gait of grace
The cushioned calm of a warm embrace
With such, as these, we are ushered into the effortlessness of ease, heart ease.
Like the overarching wings of a swan, nestling her cygnets to rest
Ease envelops, softly.
Instead of caressing our cares, we cast them
Burdens become unloaded
Worries wither, like a wilting, unwatered plant
Anxieties cease to alarm us
And fear loses its grip
All these occur
As grace-fully as an eagle in flight
Ease lifts us into the rarefied stratosphere of Heaven’s air
Far above every weighted concern.
As the One well-acquainted with ease
As the One who lived ‘at ease’, midst the turmoil of His day
The Son of Man invites us to recline in His carefree company
He bids us, “Come. Join with Me. Be at ease. Won’t you sup with Me?”
And yet, beloved ones make no mistake; be not confused
The carefree One is not uncaring
His nail-pierced hands and speared-side
Speak still, of His matchless, far-reaching Love
A love that enters every crying need and ache of humanity
With compassion’s tenderness and gentleness.
The invitation exists this day, for each one,
Whether a busied-Martha or a stilled-Mary
If welcomed, ease cohabits comfortably, easily, with both.
Ease is a place within, without disturbance; untroubled
It is a grace-filled space; Spirit-empowered, freely given.

Freedom from fear, peace, ease… these are all captured in this song, ‘No Longer Slaves’:
Prayer
Lord, help us, to allow Your steadying peace, Your unhurried gait and Your cushioned calm, to accompany us today and every day.
Our desire is to allow Your anointing to flow freely, from Your purposes and plans for our lives.
We choose to please You, as we allow You to ease our load.
We align our hearts with Your heart, Lord.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.

Beautiful Roslyn.
A timely reminder.
Blessings and love, Leonie ❤️
That’s a beautiful reflection, highlighting the fact that our lives under God’s guidance have a pacing and a tempo that’s set for our benefit and enjoyment.
I really appreciate that passage you highlighted from Matthew 11:28-30, but in The Message paraphrase:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
As a competitive swimmer, albeit as a senior, I especially appreciate the truth found in the phrase, “the unforced rhythms of grace”. In every race, especially the longer distances, there is a rhythm, coupled with a measured effort, that will provide the optimum result. Athletes call it “being in the zone”. It is a rare and, in some ways, transcendent experience.
In that it is a reflection of the experience of knowing the closeness of His Presence in your activities and thoughts. As your beautiful poem puts it:
“With such, as these, we are ushered into the effortlessness of ease, heart ease.”
Amen………” Even so , come Lord Jesus.”
A clear evocative picture of the Grace and Calmness that flows from our Lord Jesus to all who believe; who cast all cares on Him . (This was one of many scriptures that came to mind, Ephesians 2:14-22. I will leave it here as I could end up writing a page or two.) Thank you Rosalind for your post.
