Karen Oliveto - We are all Muslims

“We Are All Muslims” is No Way to Love Your Neighbour

As mixed messages go, this is a beauty.

Christian minister Bishop Karen Oliveto decided to campaign against “Islamophobia” by declaring that “We are all Muslims”.

The photo, from 2015, is going viral all over again this week.

Bishop Oliveto’s stance is typical of those who enjoy the comfort of opinion, without the discomfort of thought.

Half the reason the world is so imperilled right now is that too many people think with their feelings and reason by way of their emotions.

Jihad

Take the Palestinian issue as an example.

Palestinians are not suffering because they are Muslim. Palestinians are suffering because they voted for an Islamic terrorist organisation to rule over them.

Elections have consequences, as people like to say.

And that organisation, Hamas, has brought untold suffering on both the Palestinians and the Israelis by following the dictates of Islam — you know, the apocalyptic worldview of … Muslims.

Awkward.

Are we empathetic towards the suffering of the innocent? Of course we are. We share a common humanity.

We do not — thank God rather than Allah — share a common religion.

You would think, of all people, a Christian minister would know the Muslim Jesus is not Jesus, and the Muslim ‘Allah’ is not Our Father Who Art in Heaven.

To share each other’s suffering and pain is not to share each other’s worldviews.

Jesus said we were to love our enemies. He did not say we were to love our enemy’s ideas and take on their religion.

Unholy Alliance

The progressive left and Islamists make strange bedfellows.

Muslims and LGBTQ

Some find the alliance so ridiculous that they insist a movement called Queers for Palestine could not be real. It might actually be a massive troll initiated by the Jews, they say.

True Muslims, after all, would be outraged to see the LGBTQ flag flying proudly — it’s always proudly — alongside the flags of Palestine and Hezbollah.

I don’t think it’s Jewish trolling, as comical and as clever as that would be. I think, rather, that it is a classic case of that old adage — the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Marxists and Islamists hate the God of the Jews and of the Christians. And so there is a marriage of convenience until Israel and, more particularly, the West, is destroyed.

And after that… the divorce will be epic.

But back to our misguided Bishop.

She, and others like her, would do well to remember that Jesus said

‘No greater love has a man than to lay down his life for a friend.’

He never said,

‘No greater love has a man than to lay down the truth for a friend.’

We are to lay down our lives for others while holding fast to what we know is true.

That is faith. And that is love.

But abandoning truth in order to show empathy is a kind of narcissistic madness that gives one a momentary illusion of virtue whilst ensuring that same person is eternally unhelpful.

Jesus said “Love your enemies ” Who was He talking to? He was talking to those who were believing the Messiah had come. He was talking to HIS people not to those who rejected Him. Addressing the believers He also said “hate what is evil” Jesus teaching is directed to believers not to those who reject Him. To His Church not to those who will not listen to Him. If outsiders “hear His voice they too can enter into the Body of Chrisy

Thank you James for covering this story. How sad this poster is. A grave case of mistaken identity. The minister concerned is so misled and will only mislead her congregation.
If she had a banner saying John 3.16 or ‘Christ died for all’ and mentioned the need to repent and place our trust in Him alone, it would be truthful but the fact is we know we are not Muslims and this is not God’s will for us at all, nor is turning to Allah or reading the Koran or living under Sharia law for that pathway leads to eternal darkness. (Muslims don’t believe Jesus Christ was the Son of God or that he died on the cross for them, nor do they follow the Bible)
The LGBT supporters in the photos also have no idea of the truth Islamic view. In Iran anyone who is LGBT is thrown off a building. Anyone who does their research will find out these basic facts , but tragically these supporters are misled.
Jesus said ‘the blind cannot lead the blind’. Instead He openly proclaimed He was the Messiah and ‘the way, the truth and the life and none come unto the Father but by Me’-meaning we must repent of our own sinfulness, of any unbelief, and turn away from darkness and come into His glorious Light. Jesus promises the gift of eternal life to those who do this and follow Him and His word, but He never condoned any other way the Throne of grace- He pointed to the cross of Calvary where he died for the sin of the whole world.
I pray many of the misguided ones in our culture come to understand His call and His love for them – but it is a narrow way, not the broad way which leads to destruction.

I think she should go back to the kitchen and stop confusing the gullible uneducated. She should study the Koran thoroughly and the history of Islam and its aim of World domination before she makes such stupid statements . The old saying : “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing !” If she thinks there is any similarity in the beliefs of Islam and Christianity she is very mistaken ! The Christian God is the God of Love and Forgiveness who bears no resemblance to Allah who preaches the destruction of Unbelievers . The two are as different as chalk and cheese ! Thank you , James for your good work , ie telling the Truth !
