Prayer of Repentance at October 7 Memorial for Israel

The Christian Friends of Israeli Communities Heartland organised a gathering on 5 October in Brisbane, Queensland. The event was to share an evening of remembrance and honour for our Jewish friends in Australia, Israel and worldwide, torn apart by the horror of 7 October 2023.

Ps Moseiz Vasquez from the ICEJ welcomed the gathering and offered prayers. Miss Pam Culpitt, the Regional Representative of CFOIC, organised the meeting to remember the solemn day bringing the Christian communities to comfort the Jewish Brethren in Brisbane and the region.

Dr Warren Kier mentioned the prophetic charge of the Light Horse and Isaiah 55:5.

The gathering was widely represented by Orthodox and Messianic Jews and Christians who support Israel. Many prayers representing repentance from government, media and church were decreed.

Representatives of the Australian Defence Forces past and IDF soldiers present and past stood together in solidarity and friendship.

The evening was well-received, and the Jewish Board of Deputies commented about not realising how much support, friendship and solidarity they had from the people of Queensland.

About 40 attendees wrote heartfelt notes to communities in Judea and Samaria. Many of them do not have bomb shelters.

Below is the repentance prayer of the Church of Australia. It is very pertinent as we are in the 10 Days of Awe and also as a nation during the 31 Days of Fasting and Prayer.

May we receive forgiveness, healing, revival and transformation as a whole nation.

A display of the fallen IDF soldiers was raised to offer respect and condolences to suffering families still braving the war and loss of loved ones.
Individual pictures of the 101 hostages were placed on a table for people to take to adopt and pray for them until they are back home.

Prayer of Repentance on Behalf of the Church of Australia

Father of all mercy and compassion, we come before You only by the Blood of the Lamb, Yeshua our righteousness.

We acknowledge You Elohim, the Most High, the Great I Am, the Ancient of Days, the God of Israel. We bow before You and worship You. Father, we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, and seek Your face and acknowledge our wicked ways, as the body of the Messiah.

Father, as Moses did, may we find grace and favour in Your sight tonight; like Daniel who saw You as the Ancient of Days Who reigns, and thousands upon thousands ministered to You — the judgment was set and the books were opened.

Father, You have sounded Your trumpet in this appointed hour and season of Your Holy Convocations and a memorial to remember Your everlasting covenants made to Your people, Israel.

Father, today, as we are in the ten days of Awe, we are standing as one people, the one new man, Jew and Gentile, on this very painful, heart-wrenching Memorial Day of 7 October 2023, when Israel’s enemies invaded her.

Father, we, as the body of the Messiah, come in true repentance before You:

  1. Father, forgive us for not receiving Your people as “Your People”, as You call no other people group as “My people” and named Jacob as Israel, Your nation, and blessed them with the land of promise, covenant and identity through everlasting covenant in Genesis 17.
  2. Father, forgive us, Your Church, for not recognising and believing in Your everlasting covenant to Abraham, established through Isaac, the son of promise, and Jacob.
  3. Father, we, the body of the Messiah, are guilty of replacing Israel with the Church and not teaching the full counsel of Your inspired Word by the Spirit.
  4. We repent for the apathy towards antisemitism and persecution of Your people within the Church and across the nation of Australia.
  5. We repent that intercession for Your people and their current situation of war and existence, loss of lives, hostages and sufferings, is not being done fervently as we ought to according to Your Word. We pray and ask that this will change.
  6. Forgive us, Father, for being silent when church leadership would be courageous and bold to stand with Israel corporately at every gathering, remembering and decreeing Isaiah 62:1 — “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out brightly and her salvation as a blazing torch.” (NIV)
  7. May we the Ecclesia know that the Torah was given first to Your people, Israel.

You are the shepherd of Israel of Psalm 23.
You are their Light and their salvation of Psalm 27.
You are Israel’s refuge and their fortress, and Israel abides under the shadow of the Almighty according to Psalm 91.

And according to Psalm 105:8-11,

8 “He remembers His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded for a thousand generations,
9 the covenant which he made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac,
10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an Everlasting Covenant,
11 Saying to you, I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance.”

Father, forgive us, Your Church, when we have not interceded according to Your Word and defended Israel’s right to their land.

May we, Your Church, come together as the Ruth Church that stands with Naomi and declares that Your God is my God, and where you go, I will go.

Father, as we repent, may we find favour and forgiveness in Your sight and help our Jewish brethren as our own, loving and bringing them strength and joy even as they go through suffering and loss. Especially for all who have lost their sons and daughters, families and soldiers in the war, those who are injured, maimed and those in captivity.

Father, let us become our brothers’ keeper, and bless them with kindness in every way we can, to be comforted through these days according to  Isaiah 40:1.

We decree to you, O Israel, Psalm 122:

“We pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.
For the sake of my brothers and friends, we will say, ‘Peace be within you.
for the sake of the House of the LORD our God, we will seek your prosperity.’”

Father, may we be Your watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem,
who shall never hold their peace day or night.
We who remind the Lord will not keep silent and give You no rest,
until You establish and make Jerusalem a Glory on the earth.

In Yeshua’s name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you Molly for this tender heartfelt prayer of confession and commitment. Such a comfort to His chosen people that they are loved and supported at this sad time.

It is very beautiful to see how our heavenly Father is drawing His people into such an intimate fellowship of prayer and praise at such a time when hurt and horror make the headlines daily.
Thanks to our God that He has every life and every moment in His gracious hands, always intending good and freely giving out good to whoever will receive it.

The Media keeps very quiet about the dirty reputation of UN Peace-Keepers . In Bosnia in the 1990s UN Peacekeepers kidnapped , chained , kept in terrible conditions, drugged girls in organised Sex Trafficking . Exposed by an American Police -woman from Nebraska who joined the Force. See movie “Whistleblower ” starring Rachel Weisz based on her real life experiences. Haiti rapes . Cambodia –more Sex Trafficking of girls + boys of about 12 –left trail of HIV and other sexually -transmitted diseases . I believe Israel when it says UN bases in Lebanon are used by Hezbollah . Time the so-called UN Peace-keepers left Lebanon and the whole of the Middle East as it aids the Terrorists.. May Israel survive !

Wonderful Molly… Thank you for articulating this essential confession. Sorry I missed the gathering. I visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC while there.
