Ayaan Hirsi Ali has encouraged the West to make nation-states Christian again.

Ayaan made the remarks in a scripture-rich 13-minute address at this year’s Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) forum in London.

The former atheist and ex-Muslim also aptly described Christianity as crucial software for the state, saying,

“Christianity is the crucial operating system of society. Without it, the apps don’t work.”

Arguing for “healthy nationalism”, Ayaan said, that “despite decades of dechristianisation, Christianity still exists in Europe.”

This is because Christianity is the backbone of the secular state.

Remove Christianity, Ayaan essentially argued, and the entire Western system topples over.

Speaking from experience, she used the Calvinist and Catholic traditions which built the United States and Holland as examples of systems that strongly contrasted with her hellish upbringing in Africa, under Islam.

Transcendental Stories

Manoeuvring around critics of Christian Nationalism, Ayaan framed her argument as Christ-centred Classical Liberalism.

“Every successful nation has to be based on more than a constitution, and a body of law.

“There must be transcendental stories that unite citizens to an ethical and legal code.”

“For the West, this was the Judeo-Christian Bible,” Ayaan continued.

For those squeamish about the “Judeo” prefix, read Judeo-Christian as Torah revealed, and Torah fulfilled.

As Ayaan explained, quoting Isaiah 33:22,

1. “human sinfulness inspired the concept of limited state power or rule of law.”
2. “This emphasised checks and balances to prevent tyranny.”
3. “Governments are seen as instruments to maintain order, but not as ultimate authorities.”

Additionally, the value of human life reaches out to us from the pages of Genesis right through to Revelation:

4. “Genesis 1:37 instils the belief that all humans are created in God’s image underpins ideas of equal human worth.”
5. This extends to “rights, dignity, the poor, and loving your neighbour as you love yourself,” Leviticus 19:18.
6. The Bible also “emphasises the care for others, and fairness in governance.”

Padding her point, Ayaan added,

“The Bible’s distinction between God’s sovereignty and earthly authority in Matthew 22:21 influenced the Western principle that the state should not overreach.”

Especially into “matters of faith and conscience”.

Likewise, the “Biblical ethics of Romans 13 stress that rulers and citizens are accountable to a higher moral law, ensuring that government acts justly and protects the vulnerable.”

Western values like democracy, human rights, and constitutional government are fruit of this Christian vine, asserted Ayaan.

“Responsible citizenship in the West is inseparable from Christian morality.”

Thus, “secularism without Christianity will fail,” the former Muslim added.

“It already has.”

Self-Loathing

The culprit is Modern Liberalism, Ayaan said, inadvertently drawing points from John Grisham Machen.

Modern Liberalism is best defined as Socialism.

The modern liberal is not a true Liberal – they’re social democrats, she explained.

This is evidenced by post-national globalists who have brainwashed kids to hate themselves, their nation, heritage, and identity.

Activists posing as educators did this by not distinguishing between good nationalism and bad nationalism.

These educators also worked in legacy media and government, and for 50 years, have undermined Western institutions.

Consequently, they created a bloated, anti-Christian bureaucracy which sold itself as a guardian against fascism, while ruling with fascism’s iron fist.

Social democrats killed off the nation-state with multiculturalism and diversity, in order to realise the globalists’ dream of a one-world government.

Global Control

This global goal of total control, Ayaan said, explains the modern Left’s odd alliance with Islam.

Islam is only going along to get along until Muslims are a majority.

To the Islamists, the left are useful idiots. They’re a means to restore the caliphate and impose sharia law.

Thankfully, this post-national, globalist lust for power has been exposed.

The bogus theory of multiculturalism has failed, Ayaan declared.

Their regimes are crumbling because they are inherently dysfunctional, tyrannical, and wasteful.

These are regimes prone to fraud and abuse – they aren’t much different to “hellscapes” ruled by jihadists.

Post-nationalism had a good run during the Cold War.

Now, it funds self-hating uncertainty, demonises Christian morality, feeds off fear, and profits from enabling delusions.

Post-nationalism has to stop. It’s gone too far, Ayaan exclaimed.

Restoration

There is no better model than the nation-state.

This is why the post-national global order is being thrown out by voters.

The left’s hegemony is in retreat.

DEI is dead.

DOGE continues to expose fraud and questionable funding which propped up these regimes.

Hence, ARC must mean “the restoration of responsible citizenship, hand-in-hand with the restoration of healthy nationalism:

• Pre-eminence of national sovereignty.
• Loyalty to a shared national identity and citizenship.
• Faithfulness to life, liberty, and rule of law.”

“Let’s aspire,” then, Ayaan concluded, “to build or restore the nation-states on which our security depends.”

Make those states Christian again!

Ayaan’s speech was less an address – more a much-needed sermon.

She’s 100% correct, and I’m thrilled she spoke so boldly.

As I argued last year, without Christ, The Great West-oration has no hope of lasting.

For unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain (Psalm 127:1).
