Make Your Vote Count for Life: Use the Vote Life Guide for the Australian Federal Election 2025

24 April 2025

This election isn’t just about politics — it represents a spiritual crossroads. Explore how you can vote with biblical conviction, stand for the unborn, and use the Vote Life guide to bring truth, love and life to Australia.

The upcoming Australian federal election is more than just a political event — it’s a moral crossroads. As Christians, we are called to be stewards of truth and defenders of life, and there is no greater moral issue in our time than the sanctity of life itself. Abortion is not just a political debate, but a spiritual battle that cuts to the heart of who we are as a society. This election is an opportunity for us to stand up, speak out, and vote with conviction for the most vulnerable among us — the unborn.

Abortion is the number one moral issue of all time. Let’s not sugarcoat it. Since the legalisation of abortion in Australia over 55 years ago, more than 2 million innocent lives have been lost. The ripple effects on families and communities are immeasurable. Proverbs 31:8 commands us, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.”

Voting pro-life isn’t just a political act — it’s a biblical mandate. Abortion first and foremost is a gospel issue, since life begins and ends with God, the creator of all life.

But here’s the problem: many Christians and churches feel overwhelmed by the life issue and the political process. With so many candidates and parties, it’s hard to know who truly stands for life and who’s just paying lip service. For many Christians, voting for candidates that will champion life is paramount. That’s why we’ve created a solution.

Introducing the Vote Life Voter Guide

To empower Christians and churches to make an educated, pro-life vote, we’ve built a comprehensive voter guide. This resource is designed to cut through the noise and provide clear, reliable information about where candidates stand on the issue of abortion. Here’s what it includes:

This guide isn’t just for individuals — it’s a tool for churches, small groups, and Christian communities to engage in the political process with clarity and confidence. By using this resource, you can ensure your vote aligns with your faith and values.

Why Your Vote Matters

Some might argue that one vote doesn’t make a difference, but history tells a different story. Elections have been won and lost by razor-thin margins, and when Christians unite around a common cause, the impact is undeniable. Remember, we are not just voting for policies — we are voting for the kind of nation we want to leave for future generations.

With our votes, we can elect more pro-life senators to support our current life champions — Senators Matthew Canavan, Alex Antic and Ralph Babet — co-sponsors of the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 which will need to be reintroduced into the new parliament.

Senators David Fawcett, Malcolm Roberts and Matt O’Sullivan also rose to speak in support of Senator Babet’s Matters of Urgency — Termination of Pregnancy. Please take a look at the voting record of this important motion, supported by 2 National, 12 Liberal, 2 Independent and 2 One Nation members. It was opposed by 10 Greens, 15 Labor, 5 Liberal and 2 Independent members, and ultimately defeated 18-32.

As 2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” This election is a chance to turn the tide, to stand for righteousness, and to be a voice for the voiceless.

How to Use the Guide

  1. Visit Our Website: Visit https://www.votelifeaustralia.org/ to access the voter guide online and explore the candidates in your area.
  2. Share It Widely: Encourage your church, family, and friends to use the guide. Host discussions, share it on social media, and make it a topic of prayer.
  3. Pray For Wisdom: Ask God to guide your decision and to raise up leaders who will honor Him and protect life.

As Christians, we are all called to champion life. Here are 20 ways we can do this. Please be encouraged that taking action to engage with just one of these will advance the kingdom of God in your community:

  1. Advocate: Speak out boldly for policies and laws that protect life at every stage, from conception to natural death. Be a voice for the voiceless in public forums, government, and media.
  2. Rescue: Partner with organizations that actively save lives, whether it’s rescuing unborn children through crisis pregnancy centers or freeing victims of human trafficking.
  3. Heal: Provide emotional and spiritual healing for those affected by abortion, abuse, or neglect. Offer counseling, prayer, and community support to help them find restoration in Christ.
  4. Empower: Equip individuals and families with the tools they need to thrive — whether it’s job training, financial literacy, or parenting classes. Empowerment breaks cycles of poverty and despair.
  5. Mentor: Walk alongside young people, single parents, or struggling families as a mentor. Share wisdom, encouragement, and practical help to guide them toward a better future.
  6. Foster: Open your home to children in need through foster care or adoption. James 1:27 reminds us that caring for orphans is pure and faultless religion.
  7. Pray: Engage in spiritual warfare through prayer. Pray for the unborn, for mothers in crisis, for leaders to make righteous decisions, and for hearts to be transformed by the gospel.
  8. Educate: Teach the next generation about the sanctity of life and God’s design for humanity. Equip them with biblical truth to counter the lies of the world.
  9. Provide: Meet practical needs by donating food, clothing, nappies, or financial support to families in crisis. Show God’s love through tangible acts of kindness.
  10. Celebrate: Rejoice in the gift of life by celebrating milestones like births, adoptions, and recovery stories. Create a culture that values and honours life.
  11. Protect: Stand against all forms of violence and exploitation, whether it’s domestic abuse, elder neglect, or systemic injustice. Be a shield for the vulnerable.
  12. Reconcile: Work to bring healing and unity in broken relationships, families, and communities. Life flourishes where forgiveness and reconciliation take root.
  13. Inspire: Use your platform — whether it’s a pulpit, a blog, or a conversation at the coffee shop — to inspire others to value and champion life.
  14. Innovate: Create new solutions to life’s challenges, like affordable housing, accessible healthcare, or innovative education programs that uplift the marginalised.
  15. Disciple: Lead others to Christ, the source of all life. True transformation begins when hearts are changed by the gospel.
  16. Encourage: Build up those who are weary from the fight. Whether it’s a pro-life advocate, a single mum or a caregiver, your words of encouragement can renew their strength.
  17. Sacrifice: Be willing to give of your time, resources, and comfort to serve others. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).
  18. Unite: Bring people together across denominations, cultures, and backgrounds to work toward the common goal of championing life.
  19. Witness: Share your testimony of how God has worked in your life to bring hope, healing, and purpose. Your story can inspire others to choose life.
  20. Create: Use your God-given talents — whether it’s art, music, writing, or business — to promote a culture of life and glorify the Creator.

Each of these actions is a reflection of God’s love and a step toward building a world where life is cherished and protected. As 1 Corinthians 16:14 says, “Let all that you do be done in love.”

Final Thoughts

This election is a defining moment for Australia. It’s a chance for Christians to rise up and make their voices heard on the most critical moral issue of all time. By voting pro-life, you’re not just casting a ballot — you’re taking a stand for the values of the kingdom of God.

As followers of Christ, we are called to be warriors for life in a world that often chooses death. Whether it’s defending the unborn, supporting families or helping those hurt by abortion to find healing, every action we take is a step toward building God’s kingdom on earth.

Let’s not waste this opportunity. Please visit our website, use the voter guide, and make your vote count for life. Together, we can be the light in a dark world and the defenders of those who cannot defend themselves.

    Thank you for this.

Anthony Albanese and many of his MPs and Senators are the most pro abortion group we have had in Parliament.

Unfortunately the Australian Christian Lobby voting guide ignores this and does not mention abortion, as explained by Dr Joanna Howe:

It is important that these voting guides are accurate.

I live in Tasmania. I get no results when I use the tool to check the candidates for both the House of Reps and the Senate.
