Trusting God’s Power, Wisdom and Direction: Day 23
Intention
To trust in God’s all-encompassing power, wisdom, and guidance as we pray for those who do not yet know Him.
Scripture
“God has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and by His understanding and skill has stretched out the heavens.
“When He utters His voice there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and He causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth, He makes lightnings for the rain, and rings forth the wind out of His treasuries and from His storehouses.”
– Jeremiah 10:12–13 (AMP)
Reflection
God created this world for us to live in and enjoy. Yet, our greatest joy comes not from the creation itself, as marvellous as that is (1 Timothy 6:17).
Our primary source of joy comes when we know Jesus and choose to be thankful for all He has done (Philippians 4:4). His life, death, and resurrection give us the most precious gift we will ever have: everlasting life. The priceless gift of eternal life allows us to become members of His family and enjoy eternity with Him (John 1:12).
It is a free gift for us. But it cost the Giver an infinite price: Himself (Romans 3:24).
Now, God invites us to partner with Him in spreading this joy. We do this through prayer, interceding for our family, friends, neighbours, and even those we have never met.
Personally, I find it difficult to limit my list to just five people during GO Month. There are always more family members, more neighbours, and countless others whom God places on my heart.
When we reflect on God’s power, wisdom, understanding, and skill, we are reminded how trustworthy He is. It becomes easy to ask for His guidance as we pray. He knows what people need to hear. He knows how they can best receive it – far more than we do.
When we trust in God’s power and wisdom, we can draw closer to Him. We can rest, not rush. This helps us avoid the trap of doing good works He hasn’t asked us to do. God knows the best way to reach every person, and our task is simple: obey what He tells us.
I believe that prayer is like ploughing the ground. Prayer prepares hearts to hear and receive what the Holy Spirit is speaking. It softens the soil of the soul so that the seeds of the gospel can take root (Matthew 13:1–23).
James 5:16b (AMP) teaches us, “The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much (when put into action and made effective by God – it is dynamic and can have tremendous power).”
Let us accomplish much as we pray for, trust and discern God’s marvellous wisdom and direction.

Prayer
Father God, we come to You in the name of Your precious Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
We humbly ask You to lead us in our prayers for the five people You’ve placed on our hearts. Give us Your wisdom and guidance as we pray and reach out to them.
Thank You that it is not Your will that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9b).
Amen.
