Love Sydney to Host Third Annual Walk for Life in Hyde Park
On Saturday afternoon, 20 September, Love Sydney (a part of Love Australia) will hold their third annual Walk for Life in Hyde Park.
Many high-profile Christian leaders spoke at last year’s event, including Dr Stephen Chavura (Campion College), Juliet Ballinger (Eva’s Place Pregnancy), Joshua Rowe (NSW Director, ACL), and Dr Jereth Kok (Christian doctor suspended from medicine, in part, for voicing his pro-life views on social media).
Love Australia insists 2025 will be no exception, with an exciting speaker line-up organised to advocate for those who cannot do so for themselves. Around 88,000 Australian babies are killed via abortion every year.
To this statistic, Dr Jereth Kok responds during his address recorded in the 2024 highlights video,
“Babies are being legally terminated in their thousands every week in this country. So friends, the least that we can all do is to continue speaking up for the babies, whatever it costs us.”
Speaker Highlights from 2024 Walk for Life
Dr Stephen Chavura
Dr Chavura put the the right to life of the unborn in historical perspective by beginning, “When we look back on history, we see all sorts of practices ubiquitous around the world that we look back on now and we just think to ourselves, ‘I cannot believe that not only did they do these things, but that they justified them. They that they thought they were the right thing to do.’
“I’m thinking in particular of slavery. I’m thinking of animal cruelty. I’m thinking of genocide and there are other practices.
“I put it to you all that in future years in years to come they will look back on our age and say, ‘I cannot believe they justified abortion in the way that they do.’
“We are told that children are a cost. That children are an expense. That children are a liability. That children are a burden. That children are an invader. That children even are an enemy.
“And philosophers come up with all kinds of hypothetical scenarios, that you learn at university, to try to convince young men and women that if they have a baby in them, then that baby is an enemy. That baby is a parasite. That is what so many people are being taught at universities.”
Juliet Ballinger
Juliet Ballinger shared personal stories from women who have been positively impacted through pregnancy support. One woman named Katrina walked into her office one day and told her, “I need an abortion.”
“As we sat, and I heard her story, she told me that she had come to Australia as a student. She’d met a man, fallen in love, got married, and had a son. But when she discovered her second pregnancy, she realised that her temporary visa was about to expire.”
Katrina’s thought of leaving Australia without her husband and little boy overwhelmed her, and she revealed, “I couldn’t possibly leave two children behind. That’s why I need an abortion.”
After talking some more, Katrina agreed to continue meeting with Juliet the following week.
In the next few days, Juliet attended a community services breakfast and mentioned that she knew a lady who needed $7,000 to pay for the application for a spousal visa.
Juliet continues, “Within four days, $7,000 walked into my office. When Katrina came back for her follow-up appointment, I was able to tell her that someone had donated $7,000, so she could apply for a spousal visa.
“She didn’t know what to say. Praise the Lord, it was an answer to prayer.
“She was just overjoyed, and and once the reality of it started to sink in, she said to me, ‘I don’t need an abortion anymore.’
“That is the compassionate work of pregnancy support.”
“It cuts through the false narrative of the abortion mantra that says that it has to be my life or my baby’s life.”
Joshua Rowe
NSW Australian Christian Lobby director Joshua Rowe concluded last year’s speeches by reminding men of the vital role they play in defending life.
“As a father, to the men, husbands and fathers who are here, we have a mandate to protect the life of the unborn”, he began.
“This is a mandate that men carry. The thought that because men don’t have a uterus, we don’t have a voice against the injustice of abortion is an abhorrent lie from the pit of hell.
“I tell you if you believe that lie of the devil, it will it will deceive you into absolving your responsibility to stand for life and to stand against the injustice of abortion.
“So, to my brothers who are here today, I say reject that lie and embrace the truth.”
2025 Theme: ‘Love the Next Generation’
Love Sydney/Australia is one of many organisations building the pro-life community and a nationwide movement. They believe next weekend is another important step furthering that momentum.
This year’s Walk for Life theme is “Love the next generation”. Love Sydney invites “everyone who wishes to stand for life with us in this respectful way, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, age or gender” to participate in this family-friendly public gathering in the heart of Sydney, characterised by faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
As has become the custom, attendees will wear a white shirt as they join with others in interceding for the unborn and covering Sydney in love while gathering in and walking around Hyde Park.
Event organisers have also requested Christians to pray during the lead up to the Walk for Life and on the day, even if they are unable to attend.
The Canberra Declaration will pray specifically for the Walk for Life and its organisers this Wednesday night (17 September). You can join the prayer meeting at 8 pm (AEST) on Wednesday via regular Zoom link zoom.us/j/776881184.
The disregard of the sanctity of life and the human right to life is a critical and foundational societal issue.

Thank you Canberra Declaration for sharing about this important event! Let it not be said of us that we were too distracted to stand for the sanctity of life when the fullness of time records the greatest tragedy of human history.
We love Love Australia and stand with you all
Many REAL MEN will be there, I believe.
