Finally on the Front Foot: Against Sex-Selective Abortion
I have to confess that I am quite excited about the next abortion debate that will kick off later this week in New South Wales because, for the first time in a long time, those on the side of life will finally be on the front foot when it comes to legislative reform.
Next Wednesday, 22 October, Libertarian MLC John Ruddick is set to table the Abortion Law Reform (Sex Selection Prohibition) Amendment Bill 2025, which makes sex-selective abortion a criminal offence punishable by up to five years imprisonment.
While Ruddick is tabling the bill, there will be a rally in support outside NSW Parliament House, led once again by the indomitable Dr Joanna Howe. This will give us all an opportunity to let the MPs in the chamber know that we want to see this bill passed.
It is the first time that I can remember where the good guys will be introducing proactive legislation that will chip away at the god of unfettered abortion.
And it feels good.
Pernicious Practice
Instead of having to defend and rally against proposed legislation that will further promote the culture of death, we will be on the offensive this time, asking abortion-supporting politicians to justify why unborn babies should be terminated simply because their parents have a preference for the other sex.
Instead of trying to push back on the worst parts of damaging legislation, so-called feminist politicians will be the ones trying to push back, and – in the process – needing to offer an explanation as to how unborn baby girls can be accepted as collateral damage in their unwavering defence of access to abortion without any limits at all.
I am looking forward to seeing them try.
In previous debates, pro-abortion politicians have argued that sex-selective abortion was not happening. They characterised any attempts to ban sex selection as a ruse by pro-lifers looking to limit access to abortion, or at least to require mothers to provide a reason for their “choice.”
But that argument won’t hold water this time. Since the last debate, more evidence has come to light that clearly shows sex-selective abortion is happening in Australia.
Several studies, including one published in May of this year, provide statistical evidence of sex-selective abortion of children conceived by mothers who have migrated to Australia from countries that have a strong son preference.
So, pro-abortion politicians will either need to ignore the evidence or find another argument to justify their opposition to this bill.
Deadly Discrimination
If they accept the evidence that it is happening, they will likely oppose any change to the law by arguing that a ban on sex-selective abortion would be unfairly discriminatory against those cultures that prefer male babies.
“We shouldn’t impose our Western morality on them,” we will be told.
But this argument is also flawed, because it will require these MPs to justify their vote by saying that sex discrimination with lethal consequences is the price we must pay to avoid possible racial discrimination.
And I think the community is smarter than that.
What’s more, the prevalence of sex selective abortion amongst certain migrant communities is only one part of the story. There is also the possibility – much harder to detect from statistical analysis – that abortion is being used for “family balancing” purposes, that is, to ensure an even mix of male and female children.
While using IVF for sex-selection is illegal (other than for sex-linked genetic conditions), sex-selective abortion is legal because abortion is legal for any reason, including to make sure a couple has a pigeon pair.
It’s not just an issue for migrants. It’s an issue for the Instagram generation as well.
With their arguments failing, pro-abortion politicians will need to be honest. They will need to admit that they are so committed to abortion on demand, at any time and for any reason, that they will cover their eyes to sex selective abortion and pretend they do not see.
I don’t think they should get away with it that easily. If they refuse to see the unborn, we should make sure they at least see (and hear) those who are able to speak up on their behalf. See you at the rally on the 22nd.

If you’re a parent or a grandparent, you probably worry about what your child or grandchild is learning at school. In the first of its kind in Australia, a survey has been launched to measure parent attitudes to Respectful Relationship sessions in schools.

Great article about a terrible subject!!!!
wakey wakey The Asians gave been Kling baby girls for centuries It’s old news You can’t make a mummy want a baby if they’ve come from cultures where for centuries they have killed girls. Good intentions based on your morality aren’t be essarily true What are you going to do with a world overpopulated by girls who can’t find a husband ? You can’t make them be lesbian s .They might not be happy alone ,without a husband struggling to live in a single income in a two income world .
How are you going to solve that ?
I don’t accept abortion ,but that is not that I passive aggressively support non sex based selective abortion either .Do you ? Of us that your hook By outlawing one we approve the other ?
For people who claim this is a cultural issue let them move to those countries. In Australia it is not part of our culture. All babies have a right to be born and live.
cults are globalised now .White cults which are the ones that legalised abortion in the first place here in this country are responsible for where we are today .It is Australian girls who from 1975 I believe it was ,have been aborting their white babies in the millions now Often even married mums choosing to abort another unwanted “mistake ” that they cannot afford to support as a child deserves in this world.
Maybe the smug self righteous should have aook in a mirror .
the issue isn’t ,or should not even be about abortion,it should be about the behaviour of the person’s creating the situation and in particular the girls who forgot to take the pill that day ,which is the usual cause of unwanted pregnancies .In the current climate of paganist libertarian promiscuity as socially healthy interactions as programmed by white governmemts social engineering of community values. With their moral marriage of course to the Church which is where all legislation actually really gets it validity in the law by the law .
journalists should be circumspect and thoughtful ,mindful of reality.
Parliament here in Australia gets its permission to tax the community individually collectively as a community from the Constitution But their legal moral authority does not really come from a clear majority in an election ,but actually ,despite them being loath to admit it,from God .All law even the Monarchy is only entitled to fulfill their positions because of God’s Will under His Law in this hm Judeo Christian nation and all others which is why the Church Crowns the King from which all Governor General’s and Attorney General’s derive their power .It’s all ,by law , from God .
That’s the truth .The prime minister has to swear an oath of loyalty to the Monarch with the governor General as proxy ,the Monarch who is appointed by the Church .And wears Saint Edwards Catholic Crown, since about 700 years ago .
Do you understand ?
when Qe 2 told us ,”remember …nothing is what it seems “
and the bottom line imo is simply that populism ,the desire to be popular so have lots of bums on seats to pass the collection plate around is what has corrupted Christianity Not anything else Other psyops social policies laws educational programmings have contributed to the turning away from Biblical teaching and led the sheep into the dens of thieves and the synagogue of Satan .The love of money ,the root of all evil .
Peoples moral intellectual laziness and their hedonism narcissism
selfishness pride greed competitiveness rivalries egos have all facilitated their entrapment into the carefully woven web of deceits.
It’s their free will .
Interesting … and I wonder – who, in parliament, knows what a girl is ?
Or what a woman is ?
Or even what a person’s “sex” might be ?
Julia Gillard deleted the existence of such identity markers from the SDA some time ago, and no member of parliament seems to have been able to clearly explain what girls or women are, since then. Nor can they clearly explain what a person’s “sex” might definitively be !!
If one cannot distinguish differences between persons, how can one possibly choose or prefer one over the other ???
So how can we call on members of parliament to stand against selective abortion of girls if they have no idea what a girl is ???
Or what female “sex” might be ???
Do our political class need re-education in the famous Biology 101 ???
Looking forward to being at the rally 😃

He’s very modest I recall exactly that the family planning centres were in fact really abortion clinics and I know that by 1975 Girls were easily obtaining abortions as readily as a can of coke at the deli .
I know one girl who had 17 abortions by the time she was 18 .
she went literally insane at about 22 and spent decades in mental hospitals .
to Pauline I can assure you they know when they’re pursuing an interest .
