Senate Condemns Muslims Killing Muslims — But Says Christians Being Killed Is ‘Too Complex’
There’s a terrible war being fought in Sudan right now. And another in Nigeria.
Last Thursday, our Senators condemned one, but not the other.
Senators of all parties agreed to acknowledge the terrible conflict in Sudan, where the Muslim Government is fighting a bloody battle against Muslim rebels.
But there was no such agreement when One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts sought to include condemnation of Islamist terror groups slaughtering Christians in Nigeria.
Roberts asked the Senate to condemn,
“ … the escalating terror campaign against Christians in Nigeria by Islamic terror organisations Boko Haram, Islamic State of West Africa Province and Fulani Militants which has resulted in more than 20,000 deaths of innocent civilians for their religious beliefs.”
Labor and the Greens, along with Senator David Pocock, all voted ‘no’.
Greens Senator David Shoebridge said his party complained that the amendment “simplified” what was a “complex” situation.
Ah yes, that old chestnut. The magic word politicians use when they don’t want to pick a side. It’s all very “complex”.
When Muslims kill Muslims in Sudan, it’s genocide. But when Muslims kill Christians in Nigeria — 7,000 this year at the rate of 35 murders a day — it’s apparently “complex”.
And so our Senators decided there was no way in good conscience that they could describe Muslims killing Christians as a case of Muslims killing Christians.
As an article in The Conversation helpfully explained:
“Violence in Nigeria is driven by more than religion alone, with land disputes, politics, ethnicity, historical grievances and inequality all playing a part.”
Soooooo… they’re saying religion is the common denominator.
Beyond the Pale
I’ll try to make it complex so that the Greens can understand:
Muslims are killing Christians over land disputes.
Muslims are killing Christians over political differences.
Muslims are killing Christians over historical grievances.
And Muslims are killing Christians over perceived inequality.
And Muslims are killing Christians over theological differences.
I’m not seeing a pattern. Are you?
The Progressive Left insist there’s nothing to see. They’re far too nuanced for that kind of simplicity, by which I mean moral clarity.
But wait. Senator Malcolm Roberts wasn’t asking for a condemnation of Muslims, or even of Islam generally.
He was asking for a condemnation of listed Islamist terror organisations — Boko Haram and ISIS.
But the Left couldn’t even bring themselves to do that.
Sure, ISIS terrorists behead Christians. But you have to understand, it’s complex.
And yes, Boko Haram jihadists like to rape women. But you have to understand, there are extenuating circumstances.
Please!
US President Donald Trump has threatened to intervene militarily in order to save the lives of Christians.
Here in Australia, Labor and the Greens can’t even bring themselves to condemn the murder of Christians.
So there you have it. In the Australian Senate, condemning Muslims killing Muslims is morally courageous. Condemning Muslims killing Christians? That’s way too complicated.

Labor relies on Muslim votes to stay in power .To them killings of Christians on a massive scale is “too complex ” the reason Labor, Greens and Pocock gave for not condemning it. On 23 November in Sydney there will be Hizb ut Tahrir’s National conference : “Islam the change the World desperately needs ” and ” Gaza has exposed the moral decay of the moral order, the World now stands at a breaking point, demanding a new system rooted in justice “. Asio chief has drawn attention to it. Hizb ut Tahrir’s aim , the
justice ” it promotes is Sharia Law under a world -wide Caliphate, ie the overthrow of Australia’s Constitution (democracy ). This organisation has been banned in Germany, India, Indonesia and some Muslim Countries. Azerbaijan ( a Muslim country) has arrested them. I believe it is now banned in the UK ? Albanese refuses . Radical Islam with the help of the Greens, Pocock, etc keeps him in power. At a meeting in Sydney in 2015 it told Muslims were not allowed to sing the Australian anthenm and “deradicalisation “was the agenda of forced assimilation .
The hypocrisy beggars belief. Nevertheless, ought we be surprised? Our Lord Jesus warned us that if we want to live Godly lives we will be persecuted. What is disturbing is the non-interest and complacency of some within within church circles towards the Suffering Church. I rather suspect this is part of the general malaise of the populace towards the outside world. Of course, we cannot expect the left wing media to give a balanced view of these matters. I am very glad of the ministries of Barnabas Aid, Open Doors, Voice of the Martyrs and other fine groups and church organisations who “keep us in the loop”. As far as this country is concerned, let’s get out and share the Gospel and keep on keeping on praying!!! This is the best hope for Australia and the world.
SAD on every level.
Thank you James.
Because marxists are allied with islamists, so they codemn the killing of muslims.
And they are allied against christians and anyone who loves freedom, so they celebrate when christians are killed.
