Trump Again in the Crosshairs
Another attack on Trump – thankfully unsuccessful.
For the third time that we are aware of, those filled with hatred and demonic contempt for President Trump and the United States of America have again sought to change the course of history. This time it took place at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
It is still a crime scene investigation, but it seems that the assailant was acting alone. The 31-year-old California gunman, Cole Allen, had actually been staying at the hotel. He crashed the event in the Washington Hilton, armed with knives and firearms, seeking to do maximum damage.
The Attack at the Washington Hilton
A large crowd of 3000 people (politicians, journalists, leaders and others) were in the ballroom of the hotel when gunshots rang out, and just outside, the gunman was taken down by security forces. One officer was injured in the process. As Trump said soon after the event, all those charged with protecting Trump and the crowd did an excellent job. Things could have been SO much worse.
Trump calmly held a briefing after this incident occurred. He said in part: “I ask that all Americans commit to resolving our differences peacefully.” And again: “I want to live to make this country great. That’s why I want to live.” He also said this:
“I heard a noise and sort of thought it was a tray. I thought it was a tray going down. I’ve heard that many times, and it was a pretty loud noise, and it was from quite far away. I was watching to see what was happening, probably should have gotten down even faster. Melania was very cognizant, I think, of what happened. I think she knew immediately what happened. She was saying, ‘That’s a bad noise’.”
He also spoke about how this seems to be an occupational hazard: “I can’t imagine there’s any profession that’s more dangerous.” He certainly knows all about that reality. Reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump this: “Respectfully, why do you think this keeps happening to you?” Trump replied: “I’ve studied assassinations, and I must tell you, the most impactful people, the people that do the most… the people that make the biggest impact, they’re the ones that they go after.”
One of the most tragic moments caught on video was when the guests at the head table (including Melania Trump, JD Vance, and other VIPs) were led out by heavily armed police, guards and Secret Service agents. Chief among them was the visibly shaken Erika Kirk, who just months ago endured the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk. She was seen running backstage in tears, saying, “I just want to go home.”
Concerns Over Security Failures
Of interest, today’s shooting incident took place at the same hotel in which Ronald Reagan was shot and wounded on 30 March 1981 by John Hinckley Jr. Many questions are being asked about whether there were any security lapses or shortcomings, especially given that Trump said he wants to redo the event within a month.
Thanks to the Democrats, the Secret Service has now been unfunded for 71 days straight! Kari Lake, who serves in the Trump Administration, was one guest who was there, and was concerned about security. She said this:
President Trump was going to deliver an incredible and humorous speech tonight. And I’m sure it was going to be a huge victory. Unfortunately, that was not how the night played out. A deranged lunatic showed up with a gun. I was there.
Security was terrible at the event. It was the easiest event I’ve ever gained access to that the president was at. It was so bad we talked about it at our table before the shots rang out.
Remember, 90% of the people in the room were part of the fake news who have spread abject and despicable lies about President Trump. They have sowed so much division in our country.
I am so grateful to God that President Trump is safe tonight. I’m so grateful that nobody in the room was killed. My kids, who knew I was in the room tonight, were frantically calling me and I could not reach them until much later to tell them I was OK. Mainstream media must take responsibility for the discord they have sewn across this great country.
Media Rhetoric and Political Blame
Of course, the leftist media is already putting a spin on all this. For example, CNN blamed this on ‘gun violence’. Um, how about blaming the real cause: the hatred and agitation that they and other woke left media outfits dish out 24/7, telling everyone that Trump is Hitler, evil, and the devil incarnate? Of course, people will go out with all guns blazing after being force-fed that vile bile every single day.
As Brilyn Hollyhand tweeted: “You can’t call President Trump ‘Hitler’ every single day and then act shocked when another attempt is taken on his life. Gen-Z, we can’t be silent any longer. They’re trying to kill our President, and some are scared to repost a pro-Trump post. Stand up. No more silence.”
Mehek Cooke put it this way: “I said what Washington refuses to admit: They did not have to say ‘go shoot Trump.’ They spent 10 years calling him Hitler, his voters fascists, and every election the end of democracy. That is how you build a permission structure for unstable people. Watch.”
Said JD Vance: “Left-wing violence is the problem in America. Charlie Kirk was murdered by a left-wing radical. President Trump was almost killed. We have a real crisis where there are far too many left-wing people who don’t want to disagree, but want to try to kill their fellow citizens.”
And Kari Lake also spoke to this:
I walked out right next to [CNN anchor] Jake Tapper and looked him in the eye. “How dare you? You’ve caused so much division in this country with your lies. I’m done calling it gaslighting — you’ve LIED to the American people.” These reporters have spent a decade spreading absolute lies about President Trump. They share some of the blame for what happened tonight. As a mother, I’m exhausted by it. I couldn’t stay silent and walk out pretending someone like Jake Tapper is one of the good guys.
Spiritual Considerations
Yes, there is no question that the radical and hate-filled left has so much to answer for here. But it is also a spiritual battle, and constant spiritual intercession is the need of the hour. I keep having to say this over and over: I pray for Donald Trump every single day. There are at least two things I pray for: One, I pray for his protection and safety, given the legion of demented haters and nutters who are intent on doing him harm – even wanting him murdered.
And two, I pray for his spiritual condition. I ask God to help bring him into His Kingdom if he is not there already, and if he is, that he grows and develops as a true disciple of Jesus Christ. I hope all of you are praying similar prayers for the American President.
The West in general and the US in particular are going through some very rough waters right now. All God’s people should be praying that those who seek to bring death and destruction are kept in check. Satan is indeed alive and well right now on planet earth, and he must know that his time is short, given how things are heating up so much right now.
But God is still in control, and His purposes will be fulfilled. We need even more trust in God and more sustained prayer in the days ahead.

Great article Bill.
A very biased commentary!
Trump has himself caused undue harm creating a war supporting a nation in war and bringing the world into an economic . He has dropped Ukrainian like a hot potato!,
Yes Trump needs God a realisation he works for all in USA not own wealth or Republic issues.
Loss of funds due to lack of support by Democrats and no desire to seek compromise is his fault.
We summarise Bill. Thanks!
We must continue praying for the US and Trump.
Poor Trump, poor Cabinet and Erika Kirk and other innocent people who could have all been murdered. Hatred fanned by Academia and Legacy Media. Thank God it failed again. Saw US program that Head of FBI (Patel has been convicted for too fond of bottle ? ). Perhaps time to replace him with a more effective Head of FBI ?
Great to read your incisive report of this situation. Missed you since your exit from FB by the way.
