Another Shot at Trump — and the Rhetoric That Pulled the Trigger
A failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump reignites fierce debate over political rhetoric, media influence, and whether escalating hostility is fuelling real-world violence.
There’s been another attempt on the life of US President Donald Trump.
A man, reportedly brandishing guns and knives, tried to storm the hotel ballroom where Trump and senior members of his administration were gathered for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Police have charged California school teacher Cole Allen with the attempted assassination.
This is why you homeschool your kids in so-called progressive states. But I digress.
Rising Political Tensions Turn Dangerous
According to the would-be assassin’s LinkedIn profile, he was “teacher of the month” back in December 2024. The registered Democrat is now the crazy leftie of the month.
One of Cole Allen’s neighbours told journalists, and I quote:
“ … maybe he could be on the spectrum.”
I’m not sure what spectrum he’d be referring to.
Presumably, that dangerous spectrum where a person watches only CNN, reads only The Washington Post and gets most of his information from Whoopi Goldberg on The View.
But seriously, where would the alleged shooter have gotten the idea to do something like this?
I mean, apart from The New York Times, MSNBC, Hillary Clinton, Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Hollywood, or any one of a hundred Ivy League university professors gently explaining that Trump is not merely wrong, but an existential threat to the republic, the planet, and the cosmos itself.
Media Rhetoric Under Scrutiny
Just two days ago, CNN ran this article on their website:
How would an assassination attempt be staged?
Purely academic, I’m sure.
And today, just 22 minutes before the start of the Washington function and 30 minutes before today’s attack, CNN featured a guest who told viewers:
The correspondents association was trying to med some fences with the guy who wants us dead, figurately. Figurately, he wants journalism dead.
If that wasn’t enough, right outside the Correspondent’s dinner, there were lefties holding up signs that literally called for “death to tyrants”.
Then someone rushed the ‘tyrant’ – by which I mean the man with whom left disagrees – with a shotgun.
Nothing happens in a vacuum.
The Normalisation of Extreme Language
The progressive left – whether news organisations, politicians or their supporters – have created an atmosphere where attacks on Trump keep happening.
And for every failed attack, there’s someone with Trump Derangement Syndrome urging another, like disappointed theatre critics demanding a stronger third act.
One crazed woman posted a video of herself online screeching:
Why can none of you fucking aim? Across a grassy knoll in the back of a moving car, we were real Americans. Stop pulling the trigger unless you fucking have the shot.
For his part, Donald Trump – who has now survived three assassination attempts – was wondering if he should have taken up something safer… like swimming with sharks. Oh, hang on, he’s already done a BBC interview.
He told journalists:
Nobody told me this was such a dangerous profession.
If Marco had told me maybe I wouldn’t have run. Look, I’m here to do a job. It’s part of the job. I can’t imagine there’s any progression that’s more dangerous. But I love the country and I’m very proud of the job we’ve done.
The irony about this assassination attempt… was that a roomful of journalists had front row seats to a man who was most likely a radicalised member of their own audience… acting on their reporting.
Maybe, just maybe, this will be the wake-up call the leftist media needs to bring down the anti-Trump rhetoric.
Then again, we said that after the shooting in Pennsylvania, didn’t we?
Oh, and we said that after the attempted shooting in Florida.
I’d say here’s hoping for third time lucky, but you couldn’t be sure progressives wouldn’t take it as encouragement.
How Many Warnings Before Change?
Donald Trump was more magnanimous than I.
He told journalists:
This was an event dedicated to freedom of speech that was supposed to bring together members of both parties with members of the press, and in a certain way it did
I will say, you had Republicans, Democrats, conservatives, liberals and progressives, yet everyone in that room – record setting crowd – and there was a tremendous amount of love and coming together. I watched and I was very, very impressed by that.
It was well after 11 p.m. by the time Donald Trump gave a press conference to talk about what had happened.
So while most Americans were tucked up in bed on a Saturday night, there was a 79-year-old answering questions until almost midnight about why people keep trying to kill him
“I’ve studied assassinations and I must tell you, the most impactful people, the people that do the most… the people that make the biggest impact, they’re the ones that they go after. They don’t go after the ones that don’t do much, cause they like it that way.”
At this point, you start to wonder what it would actually take for the left to take stock.
A fourth attempt? A fifth?
Or do we just keep going until someone finally succeeds — and then solemnly insist no one could have seen it coming.
Because when everything is treated like the end of the world… eventually someone decides to act like it is.

Heartbreaking truth!!
Despite his faults , I support Trump as a man of great courage who is trying to end the evil the IRGC has done for over 49 years and continues to do worldwide, including recruiting 1, 000s of Iranian children as young as 12 to do their evil work ( including shooting fellow Iranians). Child Soldiers are banned internationally, but, the Left( World Leaders, the Pope, the female Head of the Church of England , various politicians, teachers, the Legacy Media ) apparently? never speak one word against this and other Evil committed by Iran—to them Trump is Evil. This attempt at killing Trump and his Cabinet is the result of the never-ending hatred spewed daily by the Media and pseudo academics . May God protect Trump and his Cabinet.
