Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

Day 10: Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

29 April 2026

3.4 MINS

Intention

To know and share God’s love with those around us, convinced that there is nothing in all of creation that can separate us from this love which is Christ Jesus.

Scripture

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– Romans 8:38–39

Reflection

What an incredible truth: as “new creations in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17), we have been redeemed by grace through Jesus, and we know that nothing can ever separate us from the love of our Father. Since discovering Jesus nearly 20 years ago, not a day has gone by without marvelling at this gift of life. We truly are blessed.

Yet having experienced this new life of freedom in Jesus, we cannot help but long for everyone on this earth to experience this same revelation. What a glorious vision — that all should be saved! May we never become so comfortable that we forget this great command to share Christ with others. Lord, lift our gaze to see the tears you shed for those who remain separated from you.

Let us consider the millions of people around the world who are currently separated from God. They are lost, hurting, and likely searching desperately for hope. They are unaware that they too can live in this glorious freedom with Jesus. It grieves me to think they may never hear this gospel we hold so dear. Can we not make it our shared purpose to reach them?

Daily, I encounter people who once were lost and separated from God but have now discovered new life in him. The reality of Romans 8:38–39 has transformed their lives, bringing them to tears of gratitude.

There are significant signs of revival right now in Australia. Recently, Pete Greig (the founder of 24/7 Prayer) shared on social media that our younger generations are returning to Jesus with repentant hearts and are searching Scripture as never before. This trend is only growing!

A few years ago, Pete wrote that secularism had run rampant in Australian society, coupled with a seemingly unchecked spiritual complacency in the Church. But he reminded us that G. K. Chesterton once observed, “On five occasions in history the Church has gone to the dogs, but on each occasion, it was the dogs that died.”

Pete then asks: “Could it actually, counterintuitively, be the dogs and not the Church that will take a turn for the worse in Australia?”

He continues, “There is increasing evidence that Westerners, far from becoming more secular, are becoming spiritually hungry. Research commissioned by Alpha discovered that one in four Australians would willingly come to church if invited. Let that sink in! One quarter of the population — more than 6 million people — await a half-decent, reasonably friendly invite to church.”

All this excites me deeply, and it should excite us all!

May millions come to share Paul’s conviction that nothing in all creation “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Prayer

Jesus, we are forever grateful that we are fully held in your heart as your children, redeemed in you and never alone.

Yet as we behold you, we declare that your redemption extends far beyond us. We pray that you would be known in every nation and to every soul.

Jesus, save our world. Let a revelation of the love of God pour upon every soul like a flood, and in your kindness, draw everyone to repentance and life in you.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
