Day 17: Ambassadors and Ministers
Intention
To represent Jesus well as his ambassadors and ministers of reconciliation to the world.
Scripture
“Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, ‘Be reconciled to God.’”
– 2 Corinthians 5:18–20
Reflection
I love this scripture because it reveals something profound about who we are in Christ: his ambassadors and ministers of reconciliation.
Many would say that one of the highest honours a nation could bestow upon you would be to appoint you as its ambassador. The level of trust placed in you to represent that nation well is enormous. The honour is prestigious. The responsibility is great. So how extraordinary that Christ would ask us to be his ambassadors! This is a far higher honour than representing a country — this is representing the Creator of the heavens and the earth! Wow!
Ambassadors exist to bring peace and reconciliation. For anyone working in the area of reconciliation — whether between husbands and wives, employers and employees, or different racial groups — we know just how vital this role is. And again, for the Creator of the universe to ask us to be his ministers of reconciliation, to help “reconcile the world to himself”, is a remarkable honour, privilege, and responsibility! Wow!
Note that he also reveals to us how we are to do this. He is “entrusting to us the message of reconciliation”. This message of reconciliation is about what Jesus has done for us: dying the death we deserved in our place, offering us forgiveness, and restoring us to relationship with God as we turn and surrender our lives to him. We know that the gospel is the “power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).
God is trusting you to do this.
He has given you a message to bring to the world.
He has empowered you with his Holy Spirit.
What an incredible honour and privilege!
During Five4Five, the challenge is to pray daily and look for opportunities to share Christ with your five people until Pentecost — and beyond. What a wonderful and achievable goal!
Some people struggle to know how to share Jesus with their five. One super easy way is through the G7 app. Open the app, go to the Video option, and look for the share icon in the top right-hand corner. Tap it and share!
Rather than just doing a ‘general’ post on Facebook, consider sending personal messages to your five (and to every non-Christian in your contacts list 😊). You might say something like:
“Hi Bob, I was thinking about you. I came across this really thought-provoking video and wanted to send it your way to see what you think. It’s only 7 minutes — have a look and let me know your thoughts.”
A personal message will achieve so much more. Copy and paste the message, change the name each time, and you’ll be able to share with many people very quickly. Praise the Lord! I hope this helps.

Prayer
Father, we thank you for your goodness to us, and especially for sending Jesus to die for us.
Thank you that we can pray for and share Jesus with our five this month. We thank you for the unprecedented opportunities we have to reach people all around the world.
Thank you for entrusting the gospel to us, for trusting us to be your ambassadors, and for empowering us to be ministers of reconciliation. Help us to represent you well, and to walk with courage and wisdom as we seek to lovingly share the good news with others.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
