An exhortation to join together in fervent intercessory prayer for Victoria as their state election approaches.

The Lord recently challenged me with these words: “Am I my brother’s keeper?” As I looked into these words in relation to the Victorian Election, I feel He has shown me that we indeed are our brothers’ keepers — and that God is in our midst when we work together following His instructions.

I came to Australia in 1957 with my family as I was the only one who could speak English. I had no intention of staying as I loved my little green and beautiful Denmark. I hated Australia and Queensland was so hot, dusty, and backward compared to the modern society we had left behind. I criticised everything about Australia till I became a Christian and started reading my Bible.

Through His Eyes

One day when I was complaining to the Lord about this hot and dusty land, the Lord took me to Mathew 7:1-5 and I read these words: “Don’t criticise, and then you won’t be criticised. For others will treat you as you treat them. And why worry about a speck in your brother’s eye when you have a board in your own?”

I learned to look at Australia with God’s eyes, and that made a huge difference.

The Lord led me to the Salvation Army, where I committed myself to follow in the footsteps of William and Catherine Booth, so I became a Salvation Army officer. The Lord also provided me with a wonderful husband and five beautiful children.

After serving as an officer with my husband for 32 years, we retired to Toowoomba, and I became involved with intercession. I so believe in the dream of unity and transformation that the Toowoomba City Intercessors prayed about, and we always stood behind the whole Shelton family, who were the main leaders in this move.

Lyle Shelton became a councillor in Toowoomba City Council, so our group got involved in praying for him as he fought many battles for truth and righteousness in our city and nation.

Local Intercessors

Since he has now become the leader of the re-established Family First Party, he has called another small strong intercessor group together to travel along with him, as we all know our government is working against most Christian principles.

We are all Queenslanders, apart from a couple from New South Wales, so when Lyle decided to start a campaign to get the Family First Party registered in Victoria before their state election in November, we all knew we needed help from Victorian intercessors.

I made contact with Sue Tinworth, who has had a strong prayer network in Victoria for many years, and she invited Lyle and me to join them in their regular Zoom prayer meeting on 22-06-22.

One of the intercessors had this vision: “I saw a rumble under Victoria/Melbourne — like the ground was being lifted. I feel like the Lord wants to restore the foundations, but that process often involves a dislodging and a re-aligning of what’s there. I was also reminded of this prophetic word:

For a week now, I have kept seeing a picture. As I pray for my nation, I keep seeing the map of Australia with a foot standing firmly on the portion of Victoria. I believe this is an encouraging word that the fervent prayer of the righteous is effective! (James 5:16)

Today I asked the Lord, “Is this Your foot?” And He said, “No, it’s the foot of My people — tell them they have a foothold in the nation, and that the people of Victoria have their foot firmly planted on the vein of Victoria.”

I didn’t understand what that meant until the foot lifted. As it did, I saw a black vein start to spread. It began in Victoria, but eventually, as the root was not cut off, that poison started to spread across all of Australia. Then I saw the foot come back and stomp on the map, and immediately that vein stopped releasing poison across the nation.

The Lord then said: “Tell My people not to take their foot off the vein of Victoria. They must continue to have a foothold in this state.” I’m believing this to mean we must pray against the principalities and powers that mean to destroy all people. That no weapon formed against our nation would prosper.

Let me be very clear: this is about prayer and this is not about taking a side on various issues. This is a war to be won in the spirit. Don’t take your foot off the vein of Victoria! Do not be weary in well-doing! Keep praying, keep being a watchman on the walls! What happens here affects the whole nation. I’m talking about spiritual principalities and powers. We need to keep our eyes on the spirit realm, which is where everything stems from.

She saw Lyle as a Daniel, with God revealing secrets to him, and she prayed: “Give Lyle downloads from heaven, wisdom revelations and insight. Raise other Daniels around him to shine brightly.”

We all felt the weight of His presence. We felt we were in a defining moment as a kairos time shift — realigned as God would have it, so He could align cogs so they are activated.

Stand Together

I am sure we have all criticised Victoria for sending out all the bad laws to the rest of our states, but all the time, intercessors in Victoria fought the battle to stop this from happening, and now God is challenging us to stand with them.

In Lyle’s small prayer group, we felt we needed to “prayer walk Victoria from the distance”. We had no idea how to do that, but when we joined with our brothers and sisters in Victoria, the cogs were aligned — and God activated them, because we are our brothers’ keepers. This is why I feel that all of Australia needs to be involved in praying for the Victorian Election.

In short: Lyle was trained in Queensland, then sent to Sydney, and got support from New South Wales, then he joined the Family First party that started up again in Adelaide, and now he is supporting the Christians in Victoria to stop the bad laws coming out from there. He has always had strong intercessors teams behind him, and now the Lord is bringing those teams together.

A member of Lyle’s intercessor group has already come up with a plan for a Victoria Prayer Strategy: to prepare an ‘Army’ of God’s people to act and do warfare for Victoria in small prayer groups, ‘guerilla tasks force groups’, responsible for specific areas in Victoria, to prepare the ground for the November election, and support Lyle and Family First.

In the Long Term:  To keep the ‘Foot’ on Victoria (as per Roma Waterman’s dream.)

Annie to coordinate known prayer leaders to gain support and find people to support the vision/strategy. I contacted Warwick Marsh, and spoke on a Canberra Declaration Zoom call about the plan, and some intercessors from that team joined me in a special weekly Zoom meeting to pray for Victoria. They are mostly from Victoria; but also, one from New South Wales, as well as my own Zoom intercessors who are from all states in Australia.

Divide Victoria into areas. We knew we need help from Victoria about this, and Sue’s intercessors had already done this during a previous election; she has sent us amazing maps of the many electoral areas and other helpful information.

Ask the Lord what areas He wants to be covered at this time, and His priorities. Hold meetings with all who wish to be involved and create groups and appoint leaders. Sue’s intercessors are already working on this.

Part 2: Select 4 or 5 intercessors in a group to cover each area. They do not necessarily have to be living in that area, but they should look into the spiritual history and needs. Wait on the Lord, pray into what is shown and feedback to Annie if anything revealed is relevant, and Annie will feedback to Lyle’s group on what will be helpful for Lyle and the Family First party.

Each group is to decide when and how long to pray, preferably weekly, as time is short. Leaders of the groups are to get together monthly to share, or more often if what they find out is important; also, report anything to Annie that seems important, so she can pass it on.

Summation of this Important Prayer Initiative

Victorian intercessors have done their best to “keep the foot on their state”, but now the battle is getting too much and they need the help of all of God’s people who are called by His Name to stand with them.

We all need to remember: “We are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood; but against persons without bodies — the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness that rule this world; and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world.” (Ephesians 6:12, Living Bible)

We need a huge connected army to fight this battle, and these are the scriptures the Lord gave to me:

• Psalm 60:4 ~ “You have given us a banner of truth; all who love truth will rally to it!”
• Psalm 60:12 ~ “With God’s help we shall do mighty things, for He will trample down our foes.”
• Psalm 55:22 ~ “Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall.”
• Psalm 56:9-12 ~ “The very day I called for help, the tide of the battle turns; my enemies flee! This one thing I know: God is for me! I am trusting God — O praise His promises. I am not afraid of anything mere man can do to me! — Yes, praise His promises! He will surely do what He has promised; thank You for Your help, Lord!”
