Day 7: The God Who Sees
Intention
That we might look to God and give Him glory
Scripture
“The Angel of the Lord also said to Hagar: ‘You are now with child and will have a son. You shall name him Ismael, for the Lord has heard of your misery’. … She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees Me.’”
– Genesis 16
Reflection
‘He’ — our God — is the God who sees us.
Ps 139 says, in verse 13, ‘You created my innermost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.‘ Verse 16 says, ‘Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be’.
The Lord told Hagar that He had seen her misery. Later, in Genesis 21:17-19, He proved His faithfulness when He heard and saw her again: He saved both Hagar and Ishmael’s lives by providing water for them in the desert.
Sometimes, when the things of this world — sickness (like pandemics), loss of income, divisions in our families, marriages, friendships and church — cause us misery, it is important to remember that we have a God who sees us.
He not only sees our sin; He sees our triumph and tragedy as well as our everyday needs. Matthew 11:30 says that “even the very hairs on your head are numbered”.
So, let’s look to the God who sees us and give Him the glory that is due His name. He is our healer, our provider, the shield and banner over us, which IS LOVE. He is the Lover of our soul.
Let us trust Him through all things and bless Him in every situation. Let us happily say “Come, Lord Jesus, may Your will be done in heaven and on Earth”.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for every opportunity to have my character tested and refined. I submit to Your will, Your word and Your way. Lord, raise up Your church to be a beacon of light in these dark times. Let us shine, Father, use us as You draw the lost to Yourself.
Father, we ask for revival and healing across our land of Australia such has never been seen before in our history. Draw the lost, Lord, that they like Hagar will see You as you see them.
Heal us, and the lost, Lord, heal sickness, brokenness, marriages, families, suburbs, towns, cities and states right across this nation. Set us free from strongholds the devil has gained in our lives and our nation of Australia.
We ask, Lord, in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen.

Identificational repentance is a very powerful corporate, priestly (1 Peter 2:9) prayer weapon, in which believers stand in the gap for their family, church, city, or nation by naming the sins that have shaped a people, confessing them before God, and turning from those patterns in heartfelt humility.
