faith like little children

Day 10: Child-Like Faith

10 October 2022

3.2 MINS

Intention

That God would raise up children for His Name

Scripture

“But Jesus said, let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14 NKJV)

“At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.” (Matthew 11:25 NIV)

Reflection

As dawn began to break over the Meroo Conference Centre in New South Wales, I heard a knock on my cabin door. Jane Mackie, Director of the Children’s Prayer Network, stood there in her pyjamas.

‘Come,’ she said, and without any further explanation, she led me up the path to the meeting room where the night before she had asked me to speak on worship to about thirty-five children who were hungering to experience God in a deeper way.

As I entered the room that morning, I was immediately aware of the powerful presence of God and stunned by what I encountered. Instantly, I was reminded of H.A Baker’s account in Visions Beyond the Veil of children in China being caught up to the throne room.

Jane whispered that after I had spoken to them, the children decided to stay up all night, urging the Lord to manifest His presence amongst them. He had responded to their child-like faith and persistence in the most extraordinary way. As my eyes swept the room, I could see that these young ones were completely oblivious to we four adults pressed with our backs against the wall, fearful of intruding and breaking the powerful, tangible, presence of the Holy Spirit.

Some of the children were kneeling travailing in tears of anguish for lost souls. Others were walking around loudly proclaiming scripture, singing, or boldly prophesying. A group were drumming on plastic chairs, seemingly in some sort of warfare as they prayed. One of the mothers, watching her young son loudly speaking out Bible verses, whispered to me in shock that at his age he did not know any of the verses by heart, and that he was normally a quiet shy lad.

The children continued to be oblivious of us and their surroundings well into the morning, not even pausing for food or drink. They later relayed powerful visions and insights way beyond their years. The Lord was not waiting for them to reach adulthood but was calling them up now to take their place in His end-time army.

The full account of that night is recorded in Doctor Elizabeth Kotlowski’s book Let the Children. The author gives detailed accounts of how God has often first raised up children to pray for revivals of the past, before calling upon adults to do so. Not for the first time, these things have been hidden from the wise and learned and revealed to little children.

Prayer

Thank You, Father, for the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon children in past revivals. We pray in anticipation that You will, by the power of Your anointing, raise up children across our nation who will be carriers of the fire. May they be bold and courageous, walking humbly before You as you lead them and teach them Your ways.

Grant wisdom to those who are watching over their lives, that they will encourage and protect them, giving wise counsel and not quench Your outpouring amongst them.

‘We decree ‘Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.’ (2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV)

What you describe is Spirit infused Jenny and a stark reminder of exactly why our children are primary targets of the enemy. Which in its self explains why the enemy is attacking the family unit – the front line protector of children.
Thank you for all that you do.

Thank you so much Jenny for this devotion. We hear so little about what God is doing among children.
May God bless Jane Mackie and those like her who have a vision for what the Holy Spirit wants to do among our children.
