surrender to His strength // abundant life

Day 17: His Strength

7 February 2023

3.6 MINS

As we contend in prayer and fasting for the ending of abortion, we are at times confronted by massive disappointment and at other times real victories. We journey through, keeping our eyes on the Lord Jesus, and our hearts open to learn His ways. The power of Christ rests upon those who fully surrender to His grace and do not rely on their own abilities or opinions.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV), the Apostle Paul states:

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Many great men and women of God found when they reached the point of total surrender, they were met with greater power to fulfil God’s plans and purposes for their lives. It is always about relationship with the Lord first, and service to Him flows from there. Paul writes in Philippians 3:10-11 (NKJV),

… “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

At times we suffer, and the Lord reminds us they did it unto Him. He is the comforter and encourager giving us the ability to persevere. It is not about gritting our teeth and soldiering on during hardship, but rather a sweet surrender and the giving of everyone and everything to Him — it’s about sitting at His feet listening for wisdom, so we can learn from Him and find rest for our souls. Then we will see His power at work to resurrect situations beyond our ability to do so.

“Let my prayer be as the evening sacrifice that burns like fragrant incense, raising as my offering to You as I lift my hands in surrendered worship!”
~ Psalm 141:2 (TPT)

In surrender, we are signifying our abandonment to God’s rule and reign in our lives. Today we lift our hands to Abba to give Him pleasure as we come like little children.

Worship

Prayer

Father in Heaven, Holy is Your Name! We surrender all to You today. Lord, we give every burden to You and receive rest for our souls. In the midst of our battles, the Lord says in Isaiah 41:10 (ESV), “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

Empower us to intercede for those who are in deep trauma and suffering daily torment — may we be there to comfort and guide them, and rescue those who are in desperate need — to show them hope and bring healing to them.

Most of all, Lord, resurrect Your first love in us Your people, to minister in the power of Your love, to the broken and hurting who are planning to or have had an abortion. May Your mercy flow and Your justice rule over the tormenting spirits. Release grace to turn the tide from aborting unborn Australians to adoption — to let them live, healed and restored in Jesus’ powerful Name. Amen.

Prayer Points

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to go deep into our hearts today, to surrender all past disappointment and struggles with the battle to overturn abortion. Surrender all to the Lamb who was slain, and receive His resurrection power to overcome.
  • We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life! For hearts to be awakened and every Christian to rally to rescue the unborn as the church rises up to “Walk for Life Adelaide” on 11 February and “March for Life” Brisbane — date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” October, and for other states to join in and hold rallies or walks in their cities.

These three current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:

  • Pray that the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most states of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in New South Wales (2019) and South Australia (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protection for the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party), Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill on 30 November 2022.
  • On 28 September 2022, the Federal Senate referred an Inquiry into Universal Access to Reproductive Healthcare (abortion) to the Senate Standing Committee on Community Affairs. This enquiry is all about broadening abortion access and entrenching it into federal law, possibly overriding state laws. Pray that the Lord stops this from occurring.
  • The passing in South Australia of the Statutes Amendment (Loss of Fetus) Amendment Bill 2022. Presented by MLC Sarah Game (One Nation). This bill would acknowledge the loss of an in-utero baby due to a criminal act, such as assault of the mother or dangerous driving — offences in their own right. This Bill is about justice and recognition of a life lost. Sadly abortion is not recognised as a criminal offence, but this bill will for the first time recognise the personhood of the unborn child.

Pray that abortion will not increase in Australia. The ACT Government has announced it will provide free abortions from 2023. There are also calls for taxpayers to fund abortions nationwide, and for nurses to be allowed to give out abortion pills.

Those who benefit from or support the abortion industry have spent decades indoctrinating our youth via education and training institutions. One of the primary tools used Is the corruption and conscription of our language which leads to deception, just as God said it would. “ Did God really say…..”
May God teach us to listen very carefully in these days of deception. and may His word soothe and embolden us to do His will rather than the will of those we fear we might loose.
