Elon Musk Wins First Stage Court Case Against Censorship By Albanese Government
Australia’s eSafety Karen has failed in her Federal Court bid to stop the world from seeing footage of an alleged terror attack on Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel.
The government had given footage of the Bishop being stabbed in the face Class 1 classification.
That’s a classification reserved for high-impact violence and child sex abuse material.
We’ve all seen the footage. It’s shocking because no one expects to see a clergyman attacked in his own pulpit.
But it’s hardly graphic. You can barely make out the knife, and there is no blood or gore.
Worldwide Censorship
For reasons known only to our government overlords — but that we can guess at — Julie Inman Grant was insistent that X (formerly Twitter) remove the footage from view. And not just locally, but globally.
No-one can ever accuse the Government’s internet czar of lacking ambition.
Inman Grant well understands that a 30-second X video is worth 10,000 “diversity is our strength’s” from the Prime Minister.
Available for Now
Well, thankfully, common sense has prevailed. Federal Court Justice Geoffrey Kennett has refused the government’s injunction against the video. The video will be free to view until the case resumes in June.
This is a victory for Elon Musk over the absurdist eSafety Karen who exists only to enforce the approved State narrative.
And it is a victory for everyday Australians over a censorious government that can no longer be trusted to have our best interests at heart.
Brett Walker SC, appearing on behalf of X, told the court:
“The idea it is better for the whole world not to be able to see this obviously newsworthy matter, to form their own views on the conduct in question, and consider the views of others on the conduct in question… that notion is in our submission a startling one.”
Indeed.
The fact this was even up for debate, let alone a court case, is patently absurd.
At no point in history were those doing the censoring the good guys.
