3.3 MINS

Would you stand to your feet and bow your head in a moment of silence for our fallen friend:

Here lies the United States of America

12 May 1784 — 31 May 2024

Greatly loved by all who knew her. Greatly missed by all who value freedom

May she rest in peace.

Let’s be honest, America had a great run.

She sustained almost 250 years of freedom before liberty’s light was finally snuffed out.

Those familiar with history know that freedom is not the normal state of human affairs — it is the exception.

And America was an exceptional nation. Until last Friday, that is…

Lawfare

On Friday, for the first time in its history, America convicted a former President of criminal charges.

Not for organising Epstein’s murder.

Not for taking millions of dollars in bribes from Chinese officials.

Not even for hiding his son’s crack in the Oval Office.

Oh wait, those are things President Joe Biden might have been tried for.

Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts of failing to properly account for the payment of money to a woman he claims not to have had an affair with in order to conspire to win an election, though no one really understands how any of this would have actually worked even if it were true.

But the charges didn’t need to be true. Not if the trial was held in Manhattan where sympathetic jurors were as rare as moments of Hunter Biden’s sobriety.

And the charges didn’t need to be understood.

In fact, the judge actually told the jury that they didn’t need to understand exactly how a conspiracy to rig the election would have worked. They only had to find that a conspiracy existed.

Unscrupulous

Trump won office in 2016 to chants of “lock her up, lock her up” from supporters urging him to use his office to go after Hillary Clinton.

But Orange Man Bad resisted the temptation to turn the United States into a banana republic.

Clinton was left free to run around the country claiming the 2016 election had been stolen, while her supporters grimly warned that Trump was a danger to democracy because he believed the 2020 election had been stolen.

But the Democrats had no such hesitation in prosecuting their political opponent.

They dredged up decade-old allegations to prosecute a former President and political rival in an election year with the express purpose of crippling his campaign.

And they succeeded. Or at least, they succeeded in having him found guilty. Their prize, for which they were willing to trash America’s legal system, is being able to refer to Biden’s challenger as a “convicted felon”.

They foolishly hope that will be enough to swing the November election their way.

And in truth, that’s all the Biden campaign has going for them. Between now and November, you can expect to hear it on a loop…

Convicted felon Donald Trump!

Convicted felon Donald Trump!

Convicted felon Donald Trump!

Convicted felon Donald Trump!

Convicted felon Donald Trump!

Hey, have you heard, Donald Trump is a convicted felon!

But is that enough to win Biden another four years to sleepwalk around the Oval Office?

And what condition do they imagine these United States of America will be in should they win?

Do the Democrats really believe that half the country will accept smearing Trump as a criminal is a fair way to win an election?

Imagine the Democrats are stupid enough to imprison Trump, and he loses the election. Do the Democrats really believe half the country won’t riot?

And how could they not?

Are the Democrats so delusional they think the egg can be unscrambled?

The Road Ahead

If Biden wins, America is lost.

And if Trump wins?

Well, if Trump wins office, he must not — cannot — play nice. He must ruthlessly go after every Democrat and make them pay.

We already know that Special Counsel Robert Hur found Joe Biden guilty of keeping classified documents in his garage, and sharing them with a book author.

Hur recommended against indictment because he believed a jury would find Joe Biden to be an elderly man without comprehension of what he had done.

Well, if Trump wins in November, he must roll the dice.

Indict Joe Biden.

And then Hillary for her emails.

And then Obama for his drone strikes.

And then Pelosi for her insider trading.

And then … and then … and then …

The Democrats have created a new rule. America is a nation in which political opponents are prosecuted.

No one wanted this kind of America. But now that we have it, there is no going back.

Lady Liberty has been cut off at the knees, and her torch extinguished.

It’s war.

Meanwhile, there’s a guy named Xi Jinping, quietly watching all of this play out.

There’s a man named Vlad, putting up his feet in Moscow.

There’s an Ayatollah in Tehran, stroking his Quran.

There’s a Rocket Man flinging dung from his North Korean lair.

Like I said, it’s war.

James Macpherson is obviously not a Christian or his above commentary would be very different. No doubt his accusations against the above listed Democrats are true but that does not excuse the Republican for his deeply immoral behaviour over many years, whether he’s a ‘convicted felon’ or not. Surely the USA could find a candidate, an independent candidate, who would be more worthy to be their President. I’m praying that the Lord will find that ‘someone’ and that the people will accept His choice.

I don’t know you, and I don’t know James personally. I would not want to say that either of you are not a Christian because of an opinion you share. Surely as Christians we all know that we fail in both word and deed, and that we must forgive one another where we fail. I think you have spoken rashly and should ask for his forgiveness.

Kim, very politely, but firmly said. Shalom.

I share your sentiments exactly James.

Me too Kurt. An excellent article.

Perfection is not a trait of humans (Thanks Adam and Eve), but complying with the law is possible- except when it contradicts God’s law. The chasing after one man because he poses a “threat” is an appalling state of affairs and contradicts the tenant of democracy.

Sad end to American democracy, a path Australia is hell-bent on following, including replacing we Christians, with Moslem terrorists who spread ” Islam the religion of peace “by stabbing police in the neck , attacking priests in churches and anyone else who criticises or does not support their religion. By comparison ,China is a minor problem for us. Instead ,worry about the “Enemies Within ” the many thousands of Albanese’s migrants who are taking over our homes and jobs, involved in serious crimes , and spreading Hate , especially of Jews. They have destroyed our once peaceful Australia.

Hmmm, this issue is clearly cutting deeply.

I sympathise with each agonised comment.
James, you have opened the proverbial can of worms and none of us can resist getting into it ! We all care DEEPLY about this !

The church has for too long been sadly slow in boldly speaking God’s righteous truth into our parliaments and society, so the “long slippery slope” of unrighteousness has been indulged in and enjoyed with increasing delight (and sometimes horror) over recent decades.
And there’s a cost. Sooner or later.
I for one am later to the skirmish between truth and lies, to my shame.

But the battle is the Lord’s.
    His word cannot be broken.
    His purpose cannot be thwarted.
His choice of person to accomplish His next steps in history, WILL PREVAIL, as long as our God intends.
Let’s pray for mercy from above, and for repentance, humility and obedience to God’s word better below.

James, a great piece, I agree with you completely but would add a rider. You have left no room in your commentary for a ‘third voice’, a ‘peace maker’. What would the USA be like if Robert F Kennedy Jr. wins?

James has written a very balanced and honest article. The whole concept of western Christian democracy is that we are fallen human beings living in a fallen world. Yes Trump is a fallen man but so are we as well. The challenge is to vote in the less fallen man.How do you know who to vote for look at their works and look at their actions.

You are right Kim. I was hasty in suggesting James was not a Christian. Even if I had said a ‘born again Christian’ it takes time for the Lord to teach us, from the time we are newborn babes in Christ, how to live according to the New Life He has given us through the Holy Spirit. It is a ‘work in progress’ for all of us who love the Lord. There is not time to read all the articles every day in ‘the Declaration’ but James has said other things at other times which are commendable. My concern here is that a most disreputable person is being promoted by ‘good’ people as a suitable candidate to be president of the USA. As Australians we need to be concerned as our country is in a very close relationship with the US. We would like to think its president was a man/woman of good character. Let’s pray for such a person to be found and chosen by the people of the USA.

It’s such a tragedy that we so easily revert to tribalism rather than adhering to Christian principles and values. The choices facing America should be viewed through our Biblical worldview lens and on that basis neither candidate deserves to be elected.
We’re seeing this reversion to tribalism occurring in countries such as America, India, South Africa and dare it be said, even Australia.
We’ve seen this play out before when a Roman governor asked the people who do they choose and they chose Barabbas over Jesus. The rest is history.
    Who would you choose today?
