Ban on Queensland Parliament Discussing Abortion an ‘Anti-Democratic Attack on Free Speech’
It is extremely distressing that the Queensland Parliament yesterday passed a motion from Premier David Crisafulli which bans discussion of abortion in Parliament for the next four years.
This ban on parliamentary debate is an appalling over-reach against democratic principles and a significant attack on free speech, gagging our elected representatives from discussing a crucial life or death issue.
Missed Opportunity
What should have been banned instead is the inhumane and abhorrent practice of late-term abortion, after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which 76% of Queenslanders oppose and only 6% support, as well as sex-selective abortion, the culling of unborn baby girls, which 83% of Queenslanders oppose and only 8% support.
The Premier’s election commitment of “no changes to the abortion law” was totally unnecessary, as there would have been no political risk to the LNP in winding back the more extreme aspects of Labor’s 2018 law, and introducing protections for women, such as free mandatory independent counselling (88% support) and informed consent requirements (85% support).
What the Premier should have done during the election campaign was to remind voters that Labor had legalised abortion up to birth for any reason, and to commit to pro-life, pro-woman reforms to wind back the law in line with public opinion.

I am using "and" in my title more as a type of contrast. So, I am not saying the recent Trump inauguration was a Christian revival, but some similarities can nonetheless be mentioned.

If the action of abortion is not consistent with loving God and my neighbour as God commands, and is therefore not consistent with worshipping God in Spirit and Truth, then does abortion actually constitute worship of another entity?

Donald Trump has cemented his 2025 inauguration by proclaiming the dawn of an American Golden Age. Flanked by Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, the Trump family, and Elon Musk, the 45th and now 47th President of the United States declared a “new era of national success.”
David Crisafuli and the entire Liberal Party Australiawide have been spooked into an imposed silence about the horror of abortion. They are frightened of the power of the leftist mainstream media. As well, it has to be said, that their ranks in Parliaments right across the nation have been infiltrated by pro- abort people.
It says something absolutely chilling when the most fundamental right of all, the right to life itself, can be erased from even a mention in the Queensland State Parliament and when federal Liberal politicians are gagged by Peter Dutton from even mentioning abortion in the run up to the federal election.
Well if Righteous ness exalts a nation and sin a reproach then sadly Mr. Crisafulli will not be long on that seat of premiership!!!!!
Well said Molly!
The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘Any Israelite or any foreigner residing in Israel who sacrifices any of his children to Molek is to be put to death. The members of the community are to stone him. 3 I myself will set my face against him and will cut him off from his people; for by sacrificing his children to Molek, he has defiled my sanctuary and profaned my holy name. 4 If the members of the community close their eyes when that man sacrifices one of his children to Molek and if they fail to put him to death, 5 I myself will set my face against him and his family and will cut them off from their people together with all who follow him in prostituting themselves to Molek.
I pray that the LORD God Almighty sets His face against these abhorrently evil men and women, I would not want to be in their shoes!
I was shocked by this sudden decision of the Qld Premier whom I had esteemed in other ways. I now pray for a complete reversal to the decision made Dec 11 to block/n ban all discussion on Abortion. The Lord sees and hears all things and knows all that goes on in Parliament and why. He also must in the end judge what is unrighteous and leading to the death of the innocent.
May God help us pray through, write and speak up for the unborn who have been given as a blessing from above- not to kill and destroy, but to cherish and nurture.
May God give softened hearts in Parliament and show His grief to those who have either agreed to this policy or been coerced into agreeing.
Jesus said ‘I came to give life and to give in abundantly’
The enemy though, Satan comes to kill and destroy.
We have a choice to make according to our conscience and with prayer, God can speak to many so their conscience is sharpened.
Many are praying in 2025 for a turn around for each state in Australia and forgiveness for shedding innocent blood but also for protection of the unborn.
