Rome is Still Burning While PM Albanese Fiddles
The Prime Minister is fiddling and singing his own praises about how he has tackled antisemitism while Rome burns: in this case, Melbourne and Sydney.
First, he plays tennis and has cocktails while the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne burns to the ground after being firebombed, taking 4 days to get there. He also shows little concern over Jewish MP Josh Burns’ office being firebombed.
Now he mouths platitudes as cars are firebombed in Sydney, there are three anti-semitic attacks in 24 hours and two synagogues, the South Sydney synagogue and the Newtown synagogue are graffitied with antisemitic vitriol. The latter escaped being burnt down, with accelerant found shockingly at the scene.
Emergency
We support the call by Liberal MP Julian Leeser for a national cabinet to be called this week to deal with antisemitism, which has skyrocketed across Australia, and for mandatory sentencing for criminals who attack synagogues, Jewish community centres and communities. Jewish homes, cars and businesses have been attacked.
It is of great concern that the perpetrators of the Adass Israel synagogue firebombing, which burnt it to the ground, and the second antisemitic attack on homes, etc., at Woollahra, have not yet been found by police; nor have perpetrators of more recent attacks.
We need more political will and guts from our government and police to eradicate this antisemitic vandalism and terrorism. It is alarming that since the AFP task force Avalite was formed to deal with hate crimes against Jews, they have received 124 reports of such incidents.
The government and police response has been too little too late, and the horse has bolted. It is not surprising that former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has said that antisemitism and social cohesion will be an election issue, with the demise of bipartisanship on Australia’s long-term relationship with democratic ally Israel on the ropes.
The Albanese government must take some responsibility for the escalation of Jew-hatred in Australia because, through Foreign Minister Penny Wong, backed by the PM, it has repeatedly falsely accused Israel of war crimes and relished going after Israel at the UN with false hopes of a two-state solution, when the Palestinians only want a one-state solution with the elimination of Israel and ethnic cleansing of Jews from it.

Norman and Barbara, though for this clear indictment of our authorities that cannot/will not keep Australians safe. Ideology trumps justice again.
It’s amazing that other criminals can be so quickly found-except those who are Muslim…
Great exposaure of a sadly pro-palestine government
It’s an unholy trinity – policy, police and press!
And Trump invites Penny to the inauguration. How gracious! perhaps this will win her over. ….by the way I think a ceasefire is a good strategy initially., plans are brewing. Many tx Norman and Barbara! ❤️🙏
Amazing how no perpetrators of attacks against Jews can be found !I suspect the authorities do NOT want Muslims or their supporters to be arrested + charged just like the many years’ scandals in UK in which Pakistani + Bangladeshi gangs have gone unpunished of the kidnaps, rapes + sex trafficking of many thousands of underage, mostly girls. Shame! Shame , Australia !
Why is our democracy at such risk by the minorities that come here for peace and safety yet try to stir up exactly what they left behind in their own countries.
