Out of the Old Grave: Day 24
* Note: At 8 pm AEDT tonight we begin 24 hours of continuous prayer on Zoom. Please join us you are able.
Intention
To call us to turn from the things that once held us down and choose to walk in the resurrection life and victory of Jesus.
Scripture
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
– 2 Corinthians 5:17
Reflection
There’s a moment in every believer’s journey when we must decide to leave the old behind — not just our failures, but our old nature, our old thinking, and our old ways. Sin has a way of hanging around like a shadow from the past, whispering reminders of who we used to be. But when Jesus enters the story, he calls us out of the darkness and into new life.
The gospel is not about behaviour modification; it’s about resurrection. Repentance is not the end of the story — it’s the doorway to resurrection life. When we truly repent, something dies — but something far greater comes alive. That’s the heart behind my song “Old Grave” — a reminder that we’ve been rescued from the weight of sin and called into freedom through Christ.
The most freeing thing a person can ever do is confess their sin and call on the name of Jesus. Scripture says, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
When we confess, we’re not informing God of something he doesn’t know — we’re agreeing with him that sin no longer has the right to rule our hearts. Every confession becomes an invitation for grace to enter. Confession isn’t weakness — it’s the first act of victory.
At the cross, Jesus broke the power of death, hell, and the grave. The sting of sin was removed, and every chain of the enemy was shattered. That’s why we can stand in confidence and declare: “Oh death, where is your sting? Hell’s chains couldn’t hold onto me.”
The resurrection isn’t just an event to be remembered; it’s a reality to be lived. Because Jesus overcame, we can overcome. Because he rose, we can rise.
Walking in that victory means no longer identifying with the old self — guilt, shame, fear, or addiction. The enemy loves to remind us of what we were, but God keeps declaring who we are now: redeemed, forgiven, and free.
When we choose to lift Jesus higher in every area of life, his victory becomes visible through us. Our worship, our words, and our lives become testimonies that point to a risen Saviour.
Australia doesn’t just need another event; it needs a move of God that transforms hearts and homes. When believers live as resurrected people — those who have come out of the old grave — it sets the stage for the Spirit of God to move in power.
Revival begins when the people of God rise out of their old graves and lift Jesus high.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank you for calling me out of my old grave. I turn from the things that once held me down and choose to walk in the freedom you’ve given me.
Fill me afresh with your Spirit. Let revival begin in me — in my home, my church, and my nation. May your name be lifted high across this great southland of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
