Violent Jihad: A Perversion of Islam or a Return to Its Foundations?
Albanese’s claim that jihadist violence is a perversion of Islam is challenged by former Muslims, urging Australia to confront Islamic fundamentalism before the consequences escalate.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese believes that support for terror organisations like ISIS is the result of “a perversion of Islam that leads to extremism.”
If only this were true, and we could all take comfort in the knowledge that violent Jihadism is a perversion of Islam and that terrorists are extremist outliers and therefore likely to be condemned by devout Muslims.
The facts, however, reveal a very different reality.
Stark Choice
Nabeel Qureshi was raised in America in a very devout Muslim family. However, he left Islam after “years of investigation into the foundations of Islam and Christianity.” His conversion to Christianity came at great personal cost, including ostracism from his own family.
Qureshi explains how violent Jihad is part of the foundations of Islam:
“If the traditions about the prophet of Islam are in any way reliable, then Islam glorifies violent Jihad arguably more than any other action a Muslim can take.
This conclusion led me to a three-pronged fork in the road. Either I could become an apostate and leave Islam, grow apathetic and ignore the prophet, or become ‘radicalised’ and obey him… Apostasy, apathy, or radicalisation. Those were my choices.”
Our prime minister may mean well, but he clearly misunderstands Islamic fundamentalism and has stated that violent Jihad is a “perversion of Islam” rather than a return to its roots.
In contrast, subject-matter experts, like Nabeel Qureshi and Mosab Yousef (Son of Hamas), have warned the West for years that the Quran and traditions of Muhammad’s life are infused with violence.
To our demise, the uncomfortable truth—that men like Qureshi and Yousef have laboured to present—has largely fallen on deaf ears.
“As long as Islam is practiced in a way that calls Muslims to return to its foundations, violence will follow.”
— Nabeel Qureshi, Answering Jihad (2016)
Facing Facts
In the current context, and after decades of reckless immigration policy, the Australian government must quickly come to terms with the uncomfortable truth about Islamic fundamentalism and act in the interest of the nation.
On 14 August, I posted:
“‘For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind…’ (Hosea 8:7)
Albanese’s unprincipled Middle East policy bungle—seemingly a flagrant effort to please his fashionable leftist and Islamist voter base—has aligned Australia with wickedness, and made our fair nation a target of dark, spiritual forces.”
Just four months later, our nation is grieving after the worst massacre of Jews outside Israel (since October 7) at one of our beautiful, iconic Aussie beaches. How could we let this happen?
Further, significant gun law reform is not the answer. We already have strict gun laws. Gun law reform is a distraction and deflection from the clear and present danger of Islamic fundamentalism and serves only to penalise decent, hardworking Australians and further trash our way of life and Aussie culture.
Appeal for the Bondi Terrorist Attack Victims
Celebrate Israel, in partnership with the Canberra Declaration and other supporters, have organised a relief fund appeal for the victims and families of the Sydney Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
Our giving team is called Celebrate Israel Australia on the platform and is part of a much larger appeal run on the Charidy giving website. All donations are tax-deductible and will be administrated by the Jewish United Support Fund.
The relief fund will provide direct financial support, helping families begin to rebuild their lives after this tragedy. Assistance is especially needed to cover essential commitments when the family’s primary breadwinner has been killed. Find out more about this appeal on The Daily Declaration here.
Please stand alongside the Jewish community as a visible demonstration of God’s love to them at this critical time of need. So far, far, as of writing, over $17,000 has already been donated, and we prayerfully seeking to raise $100,000.
Please share this appeal button with your church networks and friends.

History was made last night. Last night showed that the pro-life movement is capable not merely of resisting change, but of advancing its own positive vision for the protection of human life.

No decent hardworking Australian living in suburbia needs to have six guns. The American redneck love of the 2nd amendment has no place in Australia. This black and white attitude of clinging to guns is a perversion our Australian way of life and our culture.
Removal of guns is a diversion. “Nothing to see here” . I woke up this morning to hear that a homemade bomb had gone off at a Melbourne Rabbis house and a South Australian car was intercepted with home made bombs. Guns don’t kill-the people using them do! The people intent on destroying our civilisation and/or Jews are one step ahead of our government and our govt just dithers.
Sadly it won’t end with the murder of our Jewish brothers and sisters either, as the Islamic agenda is “first the Saturday people, then the Sunday people!” Perhaps there’s another agenda here! Could it be that Almighty God has brought the Mission field to us? Wake up Church for the fields are ripe unto harvest!
WW2 was a wake-up call to Australians who were afterwards all (including women ) armed. Teenage boys were encouraged to camp out with mates and feed themselves by fishing and hunting rabbits which they brought home to Mum and sold to butcher shops. People went out all day leaving windows and doors open because there was no crime .Guns are being taken away from us to prevent us protecting ourselves . I bet patriotic Australian Marches will be the first to be banned in time for Australia Day. People who burn our flag should be immediately deported , but, nothing ever happens to them , nor to the violent , masked Marchers who shout death to Jews, etc. The Koran and hadiths require Muslims to terrorise Unbelievers until they convert . What religion (if any ? ) are the under-age youths who commit machete attacks , or, invade homes at night terrorising families , stealing their cars ? I do not believe that Albanese and Tony Burke are ignorant of the religion of Islam. It seems that all they care about is Islamic votes to keep themselves in power, not the peace and safety of the rest of us :- Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, Atheists, etc. Albanese insists that violent jihad is a “Perversion of Islam ” . Does he think we are all stupid or ignorant ? All these courageous ex-Muslims mentioned in this article , and others such as Ridvan Aydemir , Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and many, many others have risked their lives by explaining in detail that it is a violent religion, that true Muslims who obey the teachings of the Koran and Hadiths are what the West calls “Terrorists ” . The Jews are ” the canaries in the coal mines ” , ie the first to be murdered because of their Faith, then the rest of us ! Unless we convert, we are to be violently killed. Australia is at the beginning of the campaign of a reign of Terror. Wake up before it is too late. It is a religion which is incompatible with our society which its religion orders must be destroyed.
A very poignant summation of this great article:
Gun law reform is a distraction and deflection from the clear and present danger of Islamic fundamentalism and serves only to penalise decent, hardworking Australians and further trash our way of life and Aussie culture.
The “Palestinian” political identity as we know it didn’t emerge organically. It was shaped and weaponized during the Cold War by Soviet intelligence as part of a broader disinformation campaign against Israel. We’re still living with the results today.
Well done Dylan.
I would suggest everybody read all Nabeel Queshi’s books to understand Islam and the implications for our culture. Also Son of Hamas was an excellent book you see the mentality behind islamic terrorists.
The more I hear our politicians talk about this tragedy the more I am sure that nothing will actually be done to address the real cause – Islamic terrorism – of the Bondi massacre. Chris Minns talks a good game but really if he had taken the appropriate steps to stop the Opera House incident we would not be here. The continuing weekly demonstrations which after a few times were actually “intimidations” needed to be opposed more thoroughly than just once. The activist judge who allowed the Bridge march should be held in the lowest regard as well. The lack of police resources for the Bondi event was also unforgivable.
Albo, Wong and Burke have consistently enflamed the situation with their rhetoric concerning the war. Also bringing in 3000 unvetted Palestinians was madness. Neither Lebenon, Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Saudi Arabia or any muslim country has taken in one Palestinian . These countries have a clear eyed view of the situation in Gaza they are not blinded by the woke, progressive, ‘victim mentality’ ideology that infects the Labor Party.
In the Bible we have the principle of sowing and reaping. By not dealing with the real issue you are sowing and when you sow the harvest is always bigger than what you sow. The hard left -i slamist soil in Australia is fertile so as much as I do not wish to say it we can expect more. Look at Germany and France; Christmas markets have been cancelled across much of those countries due to Islamic terrorist threats. The event in Bondi is not an Isolated event it is worldwide and we have the most weak spineless leadership to deal with it.
Yes the gun issue and the hate speech laws are a distraction from true action. Farmers and sporting shooters in Australia are not a problem. The gun violence in Sydney and Melbourne with gangs shooting up each others houses happens as we have the most strict gun laws in the world. It is ridiculous to have to say it but guns do not kill people it is people who use guns or bombs or knives or cars that kill people. Till the ideologically driven people are dealt with in an appropriate manner there will be more Bondi type incidents. The existing hate speech laws were not enforced so what makes anyone think that the new improved ones will be other than to stop discussion about what should really happen about Islamic Terrorism. The next attack will be bombs or cars being driven through crowds not guns.
My wife and I pray for our state and national leaders everyday that the Lord would lead them to himself that they would do what is the most fundamental responsibility of any government to keep the citizens safe everything else the government does is contingent on that and they have failed and are continuing to fail that responsibility. Till there is a royal commission to explain all the failures and why Burke and Wong ignored warnings from ASIO and the AFP we are settings our selves up for more tragedies.
