Day 4: From Fear to Faith and Anxiety to Power
Intention
To experience the risen Christ and Holy Spirit so we can boldly share the good news.
Scripture
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
– Acts 1:8
Reflection
How can you move from fear to faith and from anxiety to power?
The twelve disciples were frightened and disillusioned when Jesus was crucified. They all ran away scared and bewildered. One ran away naked (Mark 14:51–52).
But a few weeks later they turned the world upside down! Their lives were radically changed. What happened?
Jesus said in his final words that they would receive power from the Holy Spirit and be His witnesses (Acts 1:8).
The disciples were praying, and then the Holy Spirit came. Tongues of fire came upon them – and their tongues were on fire.
We as Christians have the best message in the world. I travel around the world. I have been to 142 countries. While travelling, I have spoken with so many different people. Some of these were a guru close to the Ganges River, a Muslim close to Mecca, atheists, kings and presidents.
When I asked the question, “Where do you spend eternity?”, nobody could give me an answer.
But there is one answer: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live” (John 11:25).
2000 years ago, Jesus came and He lived a perfect life. He healed the blind, the deaf and the crippled.
He asked Peter, “Who do you say I am?” (Matt 16:15). Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt 16:16).
He is the Son of God. Then He did the greatest act out of love. He died on the cross. The Bible says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life (Rom 6:23). Jesus died to forgive our sins and to save us for eternity.
He said to his disciples that He would die, but on the third day, He would arise. On the third day, the tomb was empty – Jesus had risen from the dead.
He promises that if we believe in Him, we will spend eternity with Him.
After the disciples saw the risen Christ and received the Holy Spirit, they proclaimed the gospel boldly. The disciples were unstoppable. They came from fear to faith, from anxiety to power.
Pray today for the Holy Spirit to fill you and give you the power to be a witness.
These are the keys to overcoming fear and anxiety:
- Experience the risen Christ
- Receive the Holy Spirit
It is the month of May, and around the world Christians are praying and sharing the good news. Be a part of it. Pray and then go into your world – supermarket, gas station or restaurant – and share the good news.
God wants to use you. Everyone can reach someone. And together we can reach the world.

Prayer
Lord of the harvest, send out labourers, send me.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit and use me today.
Help me to share the gospel with at least one person today. Give me the boldness to share the good news!
Amen.
