Trump’s First Week: Proof He’s the Most Pro-Life President in American History
Here’s a quick round-up of Trump’s life-affirming actions since he took office, which definitively mark him as the most pro-life president in United States history.
President Donald Trump’s first week back in the White House has unfolded at breakneck speed. He has pulled out all stops to bring America’s border crisis to heel, end radical gender politics, and shine the light on federal waste and corruption.
But by far his most impressive accomplishments have been in defence of the defenceless — the unborn — who continue to be exterminated by the millions each year.
Donald Trump was impressively pro-life during his first term, with his crowning achievement being the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
Regrettably, Trump’s pro-life stance has softened in recent years, and his flip-flopping on abortion has caused many to question his pro-life credentials.
If that was the mood before his inauguration, the last week has put such concerns to bed. Here’s a quick round-up of Trump’s life-affirming actions since he took office, which definitively mark him as the most pro-life president in United States history.
1. Pardoned 23 Pro-Lifers
In retaliation for the overturning of Roe, President Biden’s Department of Justice unleashed a wave of prosecutions against pro-life activists, using selective enforcement of the FACE act and other federal statutes to target peaceful Americans.
Within days of taking office, Trump pardoned 23 pro-lifers who had been prosecuted by Biden’s DOJ for praying outside abortion mills, many of whom were serving time in prison when the news broke.

One of Biden’s victims was Christian wife and mother Bevelyn Williams, who had completed four months of a 41-month prison sentence when Trump’s pardon saw her reunited with her husband and daughter.

Another was 76-year-old grandmother Joan Andrews Bell, who had served five months of a 27-month prison term when she was pardoned.

2. Attended the March for Life
Since the 1980s, Republican presidents have steered clear of the March for Life, which is not only the biggest pro-life event on the calendar each year but indeed the largest annual protest of any kind in Washington D.C.
Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush, along with their Vice Presidents, never attended or had any involvement in these events. The first president to attend the March for Life was Donald Trump, first by video address in 2017, and then in person in 2020.
Under the newly minted Trump administration, in an historic first, the President, the Vice President, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader all spoke at the March for Life this year.
President Trump, speaking via video, encouraged attendees that we must “stand up for little babies who can’t stand up for themselves.” He added, “I know your hearts are warm and your spirits are strong because your mission is just, very, very pure: to forge a society that welcomes and protects every child as a beautiful gift from the hand of our Creator.”

Vice President JD Vance used the March for Life to stage his first public appearance. He told crowds, “I’d get frustrated that people could look at a picture of a baby on an ultrasound and see not a human being, but just a clump of cells… it is a blessing to know the truth, and the truth is that unborn life is worthy of protection.”

3. Enforced the Hyde Amendment
Shortly after addressing March for Life attendees, President Trump issued an executive order enforcing the Hyde Amendment, which substantially forbids the use of federal funds for abortions.
Trump’s directive overrode two executive orders issued by Joe Biden that had forced American taxpayers to fund elective abortions through a swathe of federal programs.
4. Reinstated the Mexico City Policy
Announced at the same time as the action above, President Trump also released a memorandum reinstating the Mexico City Policy, which prevents American tax dollars flowing to groups that promote and provide abortions beyond America’s borders.
As a result, the International Planned Parenthood Federation alone will see $100 million cut from its budget.
5. Signed the Geneva Consensus Declaration
During his first term, President Trump’s administration worked with leaders from 32 nations to forge the Geneva Consensus Declaration, which affirms that there is no international right to abortion.
President Joe Biden subsequently removed America’s signature from the life-affirming document. But just days after entering the Oval Office, Trump reversed that decision by adding the United States back to the Geneva Consensus Declaration.
6. Pledged the End of Weaponised Government
Among the stack of executive orders President Trump signed on his first day was one entitled ‘Ending the Weaponisation of the Federal Government’, which acknowledged the deliberate harm inflicted by the Biden administration against its perceived political opponents and vowed to prevent it happening again.
The executive order tasks the Attorney General with a review of the conduct of all federal departments and agencies that engaged in politically motivated prosecutions. Notably, it also calls for a report by the Director of National Intelligence into the weaponisation of America’s intelligence agencies against law-abiding citizens.
During his March for Life address, Vice President JD Vance explained what the executive order would mean for pro-life Americans moving forward:
Vance: And no longer will our government throw pro-life protesters and activists, elderly grandparents, or anybody else in prison. It stopped on Monday and we’re not going to let it come back to this country. pic.twitter.com/9BQ7anzh2E

7. Affirmed Personhood From Conception
In a separate executive order Trump signed, which sought to eradicate radical gender ideology from the federal bureaucracy, many observers drew attention to the wording of the document that affirmed the personhood of the unborn from the moment of conception. It read:
“Female” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell.
“Male” means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell.
Indeed, House Speaker Mike Johnson drew attention to these life-affirming statements during his March for Life address, clarifying, “I don’t know if you saw his executive order on gender but it defines life as beginning at conception rather than birth.”

8. Shut Down Pro-Abortion Website
On the night of Trump’s inauguration, CBS News reported that a Biden-era website promoting abortion had been shut down.
Launched in 2022 by the Department of Health and Human Services following the overturning of Roe, reproductiverights.gov promoted abortion as “reproductive health care” and “an essential part of your health and well-being”.
The website is now defunct.
9. Endorsed Babies Born Alive Bill
In early 2022, Republican senators introduced the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act — a bill that inspired similar draft legislation in Australia — and which faced many hurdles in subsequent years. The legislation would require lifesaving medical care when a baby is born alive following an abortion.
Last week, both houses of Congress voted on the bill once again. Seeing an opportunity for victory on the issue, President Trump issued a statement endorsing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, declaring, “a baby that survives an abortion and is born alive into this world should be treated just like any other baby born alive”.
The bill subsequently passed the House, despite a staggering 204 House Democrats voting against it, and only one Democrat supporting the legislation. Sadly, the bill ran aground when Democrats blocked it in the senate.
Trump’s stated support of babies born alive during botched abortions builds on an executive order he issued in 2020, which declared it is the policy of the United States to recognise the human dignity and inherent worth of every newborn or other infant child, regardless of prematurity or disability, and to ensure each child is protected under the law.
In a period of just seven days, President Trump has established himself as the most pro-life Commander-in-Chief in American history.
Trump deserves many of the criticisms directed at him, but Christians who care about the rights of the unborn would do well to respect and defend Trump’s actions on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.
Stay tuned for the remaining 1,453 days of Donald Trump’s presidency.
