Reports surfaced Tuesday that Israel is on the cusp of reaching a deal with the terrorist group Hamas that would include terms for a ceasefire and the release of some of the Israeli hostages captured on October 7, 2023.

I think we all believe that we have a neural pathway in our brain that can detect truth from lies. However, it seems to me that there are a series of filters that we consciously or subconsciously apply to the inputs of information that obscure or cancel some or all of the data.

By supporting the ICC’s move, Australia would have to arrest PM Netanyahu if he visited, and it is saying it believes PM Netanyahu is a war criminal. Australia is supporting the weaponisation of international legal organisations.

Israel has done everything possible to facilitate food aid going to those in need, but often, it has been stolen by the terrorists. That the International Criminal Court could conclude Israel’s leadership has deliberately murdered civilians has no basis in fact.

Our Labor Government voted at the United Nations last week in favour of Palestinian sovereignty over the so-called occupied territories. Since when do you create conditions for peace by acquiescing to terrorists?

The October 7 massacre was exactly 50 years from the attack on Israel on Yom Kippur, October 6-7 in 1973, also a surprise attack. Simchat Torah marks the end of the cycle of reading the Torah and the beginning of the next cycle. So, I see it as a new beginning for the Jewish people.

Those who seek to weaken Western support for Ukraine and continue to urge Israel to back off (the Penny Wong proposal) are ignoring the high stakes involved and fail to understand the aims and threats of these ideologically driven states.

For the second time in less than a week, an ACT Greens candidate has been cautioned for appearing to support Islamic terrorists. The Greens are unfit for public office. And I measure that against a very low bar.
